It’s kind of funny that Aonuma insisted on buying merch at the store after it was offered for free, even refusing the employee discount, and there are consumers out there that happily pirated the same game he worked on for 6 years without a second thought.
Edit: It seems like I’ve upset some people. One thing I’ve learned from those that pirate is that they will always find a reason to justify theft to make themselves still feel righteous no matter what the context is. Doesn’t matter if the game is $1 or $70, 30fps or 60fps, new or old etc. You always have the clowns saying “poor indie devs!!” – these people were going to pirate no matter what, whether the devs are millionaires or working paycheck to paycheck. It’s still trashy when you pirate a new game that’s readily available for purchase no matter how you slice it. Just embrace it.
