you are actually the winner here, noibat shiny is common now because it had a Cday. cosmog is rare because each player can only have one (for now)
You legit can only have 1 of those right now. Very lucky, but not for the other friend.
Shiny noibat pretty much everyone has and you can only get one cosmog so he lost badly in this trade.
Looking at the screenshot, it seems you already evolved yours before….
