Probably a year or more. Last year we got the promise of more Cosmog in the far future, and after eight months there’s still nothing. This could take a few years before the next Master Ball, after all shadow Mewtwo and Rayquaza took well over two years to come back, so long waits are common in this game.

They probably won’t appear in the shop, but I’m CERTAIN they’ll make appearances via paid research or ticketed events.

If they’d hurry up and release bottle caps and/or hyper-training, they could shut up and take my money already.

  4. bob_el_manetes

I screenshoted that for the same reason.

Q: can you trade pokemon caught with a masterball?

  6. InvestigatorUnfair

It already aged poorly in the main games

P sure in BW you could get infinite of them through that one cruise ship

Being able to bypass the RNG’s nonsense? That’s worth big money and Niantic knows it. You just know that shiny legends will stop being a guaranteed catch sooner or later.

Ill be honest, Id probably buy master balls and use them if they were like a buck or two a piece. Id for sure use them on the galarian birds just to have them.

As it stands now, if they’re super rare and event limited, im treating them like master balls in the main games. Ill never use it.

Yeah it was my first thought when I read that part.

Willow: “You can’t buy that anywhere.”

Niantic: “You can’t buy that anywhere… except our shop.”

It’ll probably be appear in events as an exclusive item. That’ll definitely give people a reason to play

  11. SwimminginMercury

Its like that “the ratings are in” tweet; we know Niantic wants to charge for the Master Ball ~directly, so why even put that it.

I would have gone with only ~special or worthy trainers are able to acquire them

  12. VeryStickyPastry

He casually mentions maybe finding more some day. They’ll make it available for an astronomical price.

I’m betting this is why they hid catch stats recently – because they’re going to lower them massively for desired Pokemon. Then you have a reason to want to use your Master Ball.

Right now there’s nothing in the game I want that bad so I’ll probably horde it. Never had a G-Bird spawn for me (despite using daily incense every day for the first 3 weeks) and raids have nothing so exciting to use your ONLY master ball on.

  14. crashcap

I think it will be handled similarly to the elite tms

  15. SonGoku1256

Watch it be treated like Elite TMs in $15 bundles one time purchase during events.

  16. Seth_Grenwillo

I was under the assumption everybody else spammed through all this dialogue like me. I guess I was wrong

“And who knows? With everything you do for Pokémon and other Trainers, you may have an opportunity to get your hands on another Master Ball someday.”

  18. aod42091

remember, first taste is free. now we’re gonna see an even harder dip on 5 star raid catch rates and then BAM! tired of not catching that 6 a master ball for $9.99, act now supplies are unlimited

  19. Mk-Daniel

I do not think I got the research… (Not that I play every week.)

  20. Current-Umpire3673

    New speedrun just dropped:
First to obtain first 151 pokémon in master balls

  21. iamr3d88

I mean, I know it would be OP, so there’s a reason the games only get 1, but most successful prototypes eventually make it to market. It would honestly make sense.

  22. Randomman2789

That’s only because pokemon can’t hold items in this game. In some main series games I had ten because I would have extra games that I often reset after getting it.
