4 double-eggmon teams take on Legendary Gauntlet 9 [Pokemon Masters EX]

0:00 – Vs. Cobalion: EX Silver / Tech Persian / Support Tangela
3:33 – Vs. Entei: Nessa / Egg Hitmontop / Support Starmie
7:09 – Vs. Azelf: SS Hilbert / Tech Alakazam / Support Horsea
9:54 – Vs. Entei: EX Looker / Tech Kangaskhan / Tech Blastoise

Where else but Gauntlet would double-eggmon teams not only be feasible, but also not a pain to work with?

Here’s how each battle went and the sync grids used:

Vs. Cobalion: EX Silver / Tech Persian / Support Tangela – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=005340&s0=1&l0=140&r0=1&p0=0&a0=21010101&t0=41&n0=1&f0=0&v1=013301025000&s1=5&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=13010602&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFBgkSFRgbHiAhIzAxMzU&v2=011420&s2=1&l2=140&r2=1&p2=0&a2=21010101&t2=44&n2=1&f2=0

Support Tangela under sun is a better tank than quite a number of gacha supports, and Cobalion being a physical-oriented stage makes VineVine even more effective thanks to Reflect. That said, Cobalion gets quite strong in the end, so I brought Tech Persian along for the Attack debuffs. Silver takes care of the damage and the constant sun.

Vs. Entei: Nessa / Egg Hitmontop / Support Starmie – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=023740&s0=1&l0=140&r0=1&p0=0&a0=18040702&t0=44&n0=1&f0=0&v1=024900083400&s1=5&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=17010201&t1=4411&g1=AAECAwQFBgcKCw0OExUWFxw&v2=012120&s2=1&l2=140&r2=1&p2=0&a2=17010901&t2=44&n2=1&f2=0

Entei clears with no stagger need to be, ahem, relentless with the damage as Entei is quite unforgiving with the constant AOE moves and debuffs. That’s why I pair Nessa with Hitmontop here so that she can rush her multipliers. Support Starmie is the main tank as the Sp Def buffs help a lot in softening up Entei’s attacks, and since StarStar has innate Vigilance I can just give it Escape Artist to ignore the Fire Spins.

Vs. Azelf: SS Hilbert / Tech Alakazam / Support Horsea – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=006540&s0=1&l0=140&r0=1&p0=0&a0=18090102&t0=44&n0=1&f0=0&v1=002001064900&s1=1&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=13010602&t1=11111&g1=AAECAwQFDA0ODxASFxgZGyAhIiMpKissLS4&v2=011720&s2=1&l2=140&r2=1&p2=0&a2=18046402&t2=44&n2=1&f2=0

Azelf clears with no stagger are a lot harder to pull off with two eggmons, so this is a typical flinch clear with Tech Alakazam. While SS Hilbert outputs massive damage, he faces gauge issues at 1/5, so Support Horsea’s here to max out speed.

Vs. Entei: EX Looker / Tech Kangaskhan / Tech Blastoise – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=011540&s0=1&l0=140&r0=1&p0=0&a0=21010101&t0=44&n0=1&f0=0&v1=021700045300&s1=3&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=13010602&t1=444&g1=AAECAwQFBgkRFBcaHiAoKSouLw&v2=000940&s2=1&l2=140&r2=1&p2=0&a2=17010201&t2=44&n2=1&f2=0

Rain is in a bit of a weird spot for me for this rotation since as you can see from the Nessa clear, most Water-types don’t need it to clear Entei’s stage. So I figured I’d use Tech Blastoise for something else, and that’s when I realized that I’ve always wanted to do a Lodge Marnie clear under rain to take advantage of Refreshing Water Guard. I already used her though, so I went with Looker instead. Since his damage is a bit low, I paired him with Tech Kangaskhan for the Defense debuffs and flinches.

  1. Imagine if Eggmons got grids. That’d not only be terrifying to optimize, but open up so many different strats. I want it just for the sheer horror Gauntlet runners would have to face lmfao.
