Well-deserved, best game I’ve played this year.

  2. It’s a step up from the first game in every way. An absolutely wonderful jRPG. I can’t wait to see what they do next with the franchise.

  3. I had so much fun with this game, really hope we see more from the franchise in the future.

  4. agoodproblemtohave

Do I need to play the first? I keep hearing this one is much better.

  5. Playing the first one and I’m having a blast. Music, combat and story is so great. I can’t wait to start the 2nd one

  6. Onefotccn

How is the grind compared to the first? I never ended up beating the final boss in the first because half my characters were under leveled for the 2nd boss phase and I was not about to drop 10-20 hours to level them up.

  7. Sharebear42019

Wow that’s considerably less than the first game. I think the first game sold a million within a couple weeks whereas this took 4 months

  8. Aggressive-Bet3594

In my opinion they didn’t do enough to change the sequel.

Just curious, as I have no idea…is this a good number for a game that exists on nearly all platforms vs the cost to produce?

I absolutely love the game but I have zero clue if 1 million is ‘we did it guys, open the champagne’ or ‘hmmm we were expecting 2 million based on cost to create, porting to all platforms and marketing costs’.

  10. Took longer than the first one to hit a million. I haven’t got it yet because I haven’t polished off the first one. Remember I got stuck on an annoying boss, took a break and never came back.

  11. Vaderaziel

    That’s all? Pretty disappointing numbers

  12. Starfall33

I liked it. One thing i had issue with is that the stories to these characters felt disconnected at times.

  13. miguelavg

Is it better than Bravely Default II? I was bummed with the boss counter system and I stopped playing eventualy

  14. Megadoomer2

How is this game compared to the first? My main problem with the original was that the stories and characters felt very disconnected, with most of the character interactions happening in the post-game. (that, and the true final boss took an absurdly long time to beat) I enjoyed it (it’s one of the most-played games on my Switch), but that aspect was a bit of a disappointment.

  15. Mangiacakes

I really enjoyed the first one but I think I’m going to wait for a sale.

  16. ksaMarodeF

Ohhh gonna grab this one this week! I don’t have an RPG game on my switch yet.

  17. sideaccountguy

I need to eventually play this one and triangle strategy.

  18. Calvinbrine-Nestoris

    Pog!

I say as someone who hasn’t bought it…

I wanted to, and I loved the original, but Octopath 2 came out the same day as the remake of Kirby RTDL, which was one of my favorite games ever back on the Wii.

  19. chippeddusk

I enjoyed Octopath 1 but this game was much better. Even in the face of TOTK, Octopath Traveler 2 is still my game of the year (I prefer turn based games). The characters and stories are compelling, the battles are fun, the graphics are great.

This was an absolute banger of a game IMO.

  20. Amazing title. My second favorite game of the year behind Totk.

  21. dekuweku

Love this game, but was a mistake to not make it timed Switch exclusive. A lot less hype going in.

  22. Picollini

Phenomenal game. Every single aspect I love in games – especially music – is top notch. This game is a labor of love. I enjoyed every single second of it. It’s not for everybody but for me it was almost flawless

  23. Best RPG gameplay I’ve experienced, an incredible OST and great stories, both touching and epic, I’m super happy to see this results, totally deserved in my opinion. I’m also super happy to see so many people that love this game like I do 🙂 , definitely my favorite RPG of all time along with the first

  24. thelonious_bunk

Does this one do the thing where the text matches the accent of the person speaking? That made the game so annoying for me in part one i stopped playing it.

  25. idle_online

The second game felt too similar to the first. Most of the classes and moves are exactly the same, or very similar. It’s a good game, but I eventually lost interest because it felt like I was replaying the first game over again. I regret paying full price for it.

  26. Downloadmywario

Deserved. Didn’t complete the game, but I enjoyed it a lot more than the first one.

  27. EphemeralMemory

I plan on playing this eventually, but I have to say the soundtrack absolutely slaps

  28. RedditModSnowflak3s

That’s it? Lmao would have bought it if it was on xbox but square fucked up again

  29. The first game really stonewalled my interest when even the regular battles had me needing to utilize the ‘weakness system’ to do any meaningful damage but only had one character to do so and scaled the difficulty way too fast (which just made them health sponges) when I picked up more people. Has that been changed at all in the second one?

  30. Flat-Sentence-469

Looks like I need to start saving up for Octopath Traveler III now!

  31. zedriccoil

Much deserved, my personal GOTY, really glad SQEX keeps producing these awesome game and does not drown only into AAA big budget titles like many other studios nowdays.

  32. thecorninurpoop

Man, this game is so good, and so much better than the first one, I’m sad that it didn’t do as well out the gate in case that means they won’t make more

  33. SonicFlash01

I still intend to get this, but parenting leaves you with much less time and I’m still chugging through TotK
Really looking forward to it someday!

  34. Pretty sure this is 1 million shipped and not 1 million sold. Still impressive, but they are vastly different things.

  35. The first was a dog shit game.

Finished this yesterday, huge step up
