wonder why
ObamaRushBlush
Probably because of Zelda and some original switch owners upgrading to the zelda oled
Few-Sandwich4511
I bought my first switch, the OLED model. Love it.
thegurba
I have contributed to that! For me it was metroid prime remastered and dread that finally drove me to buy a system.
Ancient-Lobsterr
Im part of the statistic! Got my TOTK switch for 320€ 🙂

1-2 switch announcement moving consoles
DrKrFfXx
I, bought another Switch, the OLED one just for Zelda. No wonder.

It’s pretty nice telling my son “this is the best game of all time” knowing it’s true.

Considering that the Zelda series was nearly sidelined after Wind Waker, Nintendo must be very pleased to see what it has become today. The games don’t traditionally sell that well in Japan either, they must be shocked to see it outperforming mainline Mario and Pokémon games to become the Switch’s main system seller.

I finally bought one, the ToTK edition, without actually reading the small text at the bottom that says “game nkt included”.
So now I just blast through Hades and The Witcher and I’m having a blast. i regret nothing.
heyzeus92
Must be due to the release of Super Mega Baseball TM 4 this month
xHypermega
Probably because of the new Fortnite season
Wizardof_oz
And yet Phill Spencer thinks games don’t sell consoles
Bigpoppapumpfreak
Everybody 1 2 Switch carrying Nintendo
Elastichedgehog
Unsurprising. Beyond TotK being a great game, it markets itself. All the insane contraptions people have made make it to social media feeds.
mrHartnabrig
You know what that means?! You ‘Switch 2’ hopefuls can suckit.
At least two more years of Switch with it’s overly referenced 2015 hardware!
yonguism
Must be that 7$ temu switch
Dodge-This-87
I got my first switch a few weeks ago (OLED model) with BOTW. Never missed a ‘mainline’ Zelda game and the TOTK release reminded me I need to catch up! Absolutely love it so far.

It’s wild that Nintendo as a company can produce games that drive sales like this 6 years into the lowest powered console’s lifespan. They are masters of making the most of their hardware, and occasionally critically hit on their fun mechanics.
If you go back and play smb1 long enough, it starts to feel like a physics toy.
daChino02
Wish the Zelda oled was available when I went in, went with the Pokémon edition even though I’ve never played one. Still dope
MarcosInu
And this is why Nintendo does not announce anything related to the rumored Switch 2
talex625
My switch broke after a waited for the midnight release of TOTK. I got home and it didn’t power on. Then I brought the new TOTK version of the switch.
regretMyChoices
Having never played a Zelda game before and not having a Nintendo device since the Wii, the hype surrounding BOTW and TOTK convinced me to grab an OLED switch.
Haven’t regretted it a bit. I don’t have the time I used to, so I’m only about 30 hours in but absolutely loving it.
Shuji1987
I am surprised it is only by 39%, though.
AsassinX
Just started playing BOTW after a few years of having a Switch. The game is both incredible and highly overwhelming/intimidating lol. It’s insane how much Nintendo packed into this game.
Cristonimus
Pretty curious that Pikmin 4 is announced and the switch sales suddenly goes up.

Nintendo a few months ago:
“We realize that the switch has been out for quite a few years now and we have changed our predictions for 2023 accordingly”.
Nintendo after TOTK release:
“Moneyprinter goes BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR”
Skydragonace
I’ll admit it… I got the Zelda OLED switch specifically to play TOTK, and then grabbed 5 other switch games while I was at it.
Been a pricey, but super fun month. 🙂
Dodderoni
Bought a switch for the first game, and OLED for the second
EntropyLadyofChaos
Dude I think my Switch has gotten more play time the past month than it has the past 2 years
Cryogenic_Phoenix
might upgrade from a switch lite (that i bought used) to an OLED switch
CondiMesmer
totk easily goty
how do the zelda devs keep doing it?
Mother_Restaurant188
Super cool to see Nintendo doing so well with the Switch.
Hope this keeps up and we continue to get amazing titles (still waiting for mainline Mario!) and maybe a successor soon.
Starfall33
Everyone has good month except for Microsoft and Xbox lol
Stalhound
Guy in front of me when I was picking up a copy of TOTK was looking to buy a switch (and TOTK) and mentioned the last system he had was a N64.
Felt special to hear that kinda interaction.
jlurosa
Obvious reason is TOTK but I really wonder what percentage of sales is because of First Communion presents (may is the month)
longbrodmann
2 more years for the next gen Switch.
ReligiousTurd
Forget concerns dead people voting.. they must be buying these? Hasn’t Nintendo sold this to every living person who wants one at this point?
Ned1982K
I was resigned to missing out on TotK as did not have a Switch and didn’t want to get one just for Zelda. Ended up impulse buying, reasoning big titles like this are the whole reason I indulge in this hobby in the first place. Getting one was one of the best decisions I made, it’s such a good console.

With tears of the kingdom as good as it is no wonder.
failmatic
39% is how many units?
JonathanOne994
As a ps5 and Switch owner, all I can say is that I adore both
unplugged22
I bought a Switch solely for Totk.
Rex_T360
Damn, I guess the rumors of a 1 2 Switch sequel were enough to get people to buy Switches before the game was even revealed.
Since Everbody 1 2 Switch is out on the 30th, my guess is that sales are up 69% by then.
