Funny that someone posted a PSA about the fake dock, I just received a order yesterday from AliExpress but at least the seller was honest about it not being genuine and for the price of $45 for both the dock and the grip, I was expecting them to be reproductions but damn do they look good, they also sold the OLED dock and Animal crossing versions (I think an empty shell cost as much lol)
Grip even came with box that looked pretty legit except it was in Japanese plus Nintendo branded USB cable

Very convincing repro charging grip (joycons are genuine), look at the detailed fine prints, even has tri wing screws to fool you

As for the dock, hard to tell it’s a reproduction on the outside…

Previously reported issue here [https://www.lootpots.com/articles/fake-nintendo-switch-docks-looks-can-be-deceiving-comparisons-revealing-21022019/](https://www.lootpots.com/articles/fake-nintendo-switch-docks-looks-can-be-deceiving-comparisons-revealing-21022019/) with the NYCE logo have been fixed, they seems to be using same mold as the real deal? The SN sticker is a bit suspicious however, its applied crooked and appears to be printed/copies as opposed to unique thermal labels

Looks like chargerlab already did a detailled teardown of the fake charding dock here

Guts of the charging grip, similar PCB to the genuine one but with lots of unpopulated components, as if they didn’t implement USB enumeration/communication. The microcontroller IC markings has been scratched off but is an STM32 in the original one (could be a STM32 clone like the GD32)

The rails are a dead giveaway however, loosy tolerances, ends are not square, and they used cheaper looking philips #0 screws, the light guides also were made out of a matte plastic but with tighter fit than the original (original is clear and is smaller than the holes on the shell, the repro one actually matched the hole perfectly – I was tempted to swap it over from a fit and finish perspective but alas it wasn’t as bright),

top is repro, bottom is genuine

here it’s the opposite, blue dot with H1 marking is genuine

I’ve decided to transfer the charging internals to the OEM grip, swapping over the repro top cover with the Type-C opening
The Joycon contacts can be easily removed after sliding off a retention pin, I now have a one of a kind OEM black grip but with an USB Type-C charging port, they should sell retrofit kits for cheap for those that wants to add charging to their grips (IMO Nintendo should have bundled it with charging capability in the first place, it’s the same shell, same rail minus the electronics)

Does anybody expect items from AliExpress to be legitimate?
