Never buying a game with rap music in the trailer

ngl, I’m kinda digging this. Looks a little “we have Metroid Dread at home” but that doesn’t have to be a terrible thing

I feel like this is a de-evolution of the series. Will maybe check it out a year after release for $10 since it’s Ubisoft.

Don’t mind the series going back to its sidescrolling roots. Definitely getting Metroid Dread vibes. Gonna wait for reviews though but hopefully this means a resurgence for the series as whole

  5. I fucking laughed when I saw him air dash. I just remember playing the original when the guy could barely walk.

Gameplay looks pretty fun but that main-character design is so bad. It looks so “edgy”. Yikes.

Looks like dread somewhat. Cringey trailer. Classic Ubisoft

Huge ori and the blind forest/will of the wisps vibes which are phenomenal games looks cool

Horrible Music choice, show off your soundtrack vibes because if I hear this song in the game while playing I’m turning music off

  9. This SCREAMS corp meddling… Whose idea was it to make the Prince _not_ Persian at all? He looks like all the generic western zoomer oriented media seen in stuff like Fortnite nowadays. Why this music? Why the dreads?

Everything seems decided by a focus group… “Let’s create something that isn’t as expensive, with _everything_ that kids-teenagers like nowadays, in a _safe_ genre such as Metroidvania”

The trailer was pure cringe even if I like each and every one of the elements of this by their own (I like Metroidvanias, I like Prince of Persia, I do like the music on its own… what the hell does any of this have to do with each other?)

Having said that, I’m a big fan of PoP and I’ll still be _very cautiously_ optimistic

Honestly pretty interested in this. I sincerely hope it’s a bona-fide Metroidvania which seems likely but not necessarily suggested by the trailer. The graphics have a pretty low-budget feel to them, so I wonder if this is going to be a full-priced game.

I genuinely hate the presentation though, but I hope it’s just the trailer.

Anybody know which Ubi studio is working on this? Ubi games have been pretty hit and miss for me over the last generation or two, but there’s a couple of their studios that are always a hit for me.

  12. After the Sands of Time Remake, I was kinda expecting a big letdown. But this looks pretty decent!

This *screams* “put the Prince of Persia IP on that no name game you’re making.”

It just looks so generic to me. We’ve had a billion Metroidvanias in recent years, where all of them make you gain a double jump, and air dash, a ground pound, and incorporate parry/dodge mechanics.

PoP – at least in its 2D incarnations – were about puzzle solving and precise jumping mechanics. I get that with Assassin’s Creed effectively taking the 3D aerial platformer title away from PoP, it has limited options as a franchise to move toward. So it makes sense to try 2D. But if you’re going to throw out everything about the series that made it popular to begin with, I feel like you should just make a new IP. I know Ubisoft won’t do that because using PoP means make recognition, but still.

If the game is good, awesome. I got bored of the trailer less than halfway in though.
