Future Nintendo console/headset

After looking into Apple Vision Pro, it looks promising (with time) and I think the form factor would suit the next Nintendo console. Nintendo **Vision** sounds cool. But hey, they were beat to it.

This is what I envision (however it’s named):

**Features**

• Portability (keep it around neck)
• Portable battery (like Apple Vision’s) that lasts 3-5 hours
• The portable battery is also used for wall charging and connecting to TV.

• A controller (like [this](https://www.klarna.com/sac/product/232×232/3000693796/Hori-Horipad-Mini-Controller-Pokemon-Pikachu-Eevee-%28Nintendo-Switch%29-Green-Bown.jpg?ph=true)) that attaches to the battery to charge.

• Joy-Cons can be used, too. A new Joy-Con [charger](https://www.amazon.com.au/INNVO-Charger-Nintendo-Charging-Controllers/dp/B079DSWQ2X/ref=asc_df_B079DSWQ2X/?tag=googleshopdsk-22&linkCode=df0&hvadid=463616089109&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6079973185336744305&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9112560&hvtargid=pla-485472848373&psc=1) is sold separately.

• Storage – New (smaller) game cartridge and SD slots. You can still download Switch games, or play Switch games downloaded to your account. Accessory needed to play Switch cartridges.

• Older games – A large library of games from other Nintendo consoles, including the arrival of DS games. Having two screens isn’t a problem as screen #2 can go anywhere.

• Instant connect – Connect with anyone else wearing a headset nearby (if they accept). Instantly share a screen to them. This means better co-op gameplay, as you have a screen each.

Even **More possibilities**

• 3D effect – As seen in the Apple Vision promo, characters can climb out of virtual screens, giving an amazing 3D effect. Imagine a wild Pokémon appearing and just POPPING out of. Or Mario dying in a level, and falling out of the screen. It would feel so Nintendo.

• Run two apps at once – e.g. Pokémon Home and Pokémon Scarlet. Drag and drop a Pokémon from Home into your game.

• Multiple menus open – User Interfaces would be amazing. Hold a button longer to open a menu separately (like inventory) and create your own on-demand dashboard.

**Limitations / being realistic**

• Price is a barrier, and I don’t imagine it having all the sensors Apple Vision has (at least not by 2030). E.g. instead of hand gestures, you just use controllers. It’s still a big improvement, as with eye-tracking, where your eyes go, the cursor goes.

It would be cool to reach out to pet a Nintendog or Pokémon, but to keep it affordable, eye-tracking and patting via controller would have to do.

**Improving affordability:**

• Except for eye tracking (IR cameras), there’d be no cameras or microphone in the headset.

• No gyro or accelerometer in the controller. (?)

• No joy-cons straps or grip controller included in packaging.

• No HDMI cable included (many people have one already).

• No dock included – just plug in from the portable battery. Controller attaches to the battery to charge.

**Final Words**

**• Do you think** a release date of 2027 would be viable?

• Do you think game cartridges could be canned altogether?

Well I do think this is interesting, I don’t think the tech is there yet at a price point consumers would be willing to accept.

The Apple Vision Pro is $3500. I know you listed ways to make it more affordable, but they’re not going to take it into the $600-700 range which is really the most the market will accept for a console, I think. That’s a huge, huge difference.

Other big problem is battery life. Those things are battery drains. The Apple Vision Pro only gives you 2 hours. To double that for 3-5 you’ll have to make some huge sacrifices.

Maybe someday, because the tech is improving quickly, but I don’t think it’s ready for what you are suggesting yet.

JVC beat them all to it (conceptually) if you go back to Back to the Future 2.

If they include 3D, they should defiently allow you to play Virtual Boy Games

Apple Vision Pro is not going to succeed. It’s being artificially hyped up by Apple marketing.

They will do it when they can knock a zero off the price.

“A Nintendo VR headset will be super successful as long as it’s able to overcome the inherent flaws of VR and include cutting edge technology at a price that’s ludicrously low for what it’s supposed to be able to do.”
