Considering I barely made it through Hoenn on 10K I was terrified at the prospect of doing the newer stadiums with 12.5K. Thankfully the Alola Villain Arc came last month so now the region has a better time when dealing with the newer stadiums, but it’s still not a breeze per-say. This is an extension of the previous CS video, the Tapu Sygna Suits are quite complex so it was worth showcasing them again in different team archetypes.
TIMESTAMPS:
0:00 Round 1: Fast Food Delivery
2:33 Round 2: A Bug’s (Leech) Life
6:25 Round 3: Fairy Zone, Ghosted
9:24 Round 4: Sweet but Psycho
12:18 Round 5: The Mina EX Showcase
Round 1: Bertha
Parameter: Sync in half
Wanted to use this type of team since SS Acerola was first datamined. SS Acerola completes Mallow’s long list of required effects for maximum nuking potential. To showcase it’s strength I knew it had to be off-type and Bertha’s stage will punish you if Sandstorm isn’t written over. Even with the annoying Sync in half parameter the team still clears with minimal to no issues. The nuke didn’t clear but the mighty PMUN stacked Grassy Terrain boosted Power Whip did. Even the sides can’t do much thanks to how bulky this team is.
Round 2: Lucian
Parameter: Faster move gauge
Using Lusamine or Guzma here would make sense but would be painful given both have their issues. So we’re gonna support stack. The vampire tank strategy works best when attacks are super effective since you regain more HP, thankfully Lucian doesn’t have Sentry Entry as the clear would take way longer. I made the stupid mistake of making Elio the first target, this effectively reduces the effectiveness of the strategy but the team still clears easily because it’s support stacking with a 3-bar 100 BP move being spammed.
Round 3: Aaron
Parameter: Special Attack up
This team is reminiscent of the Kahili team from the Hoenn Stadium video but instead of an on-type nuker we now have one which is off-typing. Initially I wanted to use Anabel here but figured it would be best to save her for Flint’s stage leaving our 2nd best option as SC Lillie, who is fragil to Dark types moves but she’s a flinchbot so it just takes some luck in this insistence. SS Hau is a great battery for this making it so that Anni Lillie doesn’t need her Quick Tempo Tile. I did some damage tests and figured out that Moonblast wasn’t worth humouring. In general this is one of the strongest Alola teams you could make, you could replace Anni Lillie with SS Lusamine or SS Lana if you wanted. Then it happened, I rolled Ghost Zone from SC Lillie. This wasn’t part of the plan, the team could clear without it. I kind of hate that SC Lillie is sometimes viewed as the Ghost Zone 5% unit when it only appears at the most unfitting of times.
Round 4: Flint
Parameter: Stat drops on faint
Since I knew I would be showcasing the Tapus again that left SS Lana to do striker things. This clear showcases how effective simple brainless spam with flinches can clear a stage. You don’t typically use SS Lana as a Sync Nuker, you’re meant to rely on her B-Move to carry. I still ran Haymaker since it’s one of her better nodes for this team structure. As for the other members, I haven’t done much with my 1/5 Anabel so it felt like a good call to bring her along on a stage which has status conditions and Kukui is doing his average routine of Accelroc Leer repeat. Was tempted to use Nanu but I’ve used him enough
Round 5: Cynthia
Parameter: Permanent field effects + Stat drops on faint
[My honest apologies for how laggy this clear is. Rain (and Hail) don’t bode well on my phone. Anyways.]
Here it is, the dread Mina showcase. While Hapu is the weakest of Alola’s Sync Pairs, Mina takes the crown for my least favourite Alola Sync Pair to USE. It comes down to a few things, her low offences, Charm takes a long time to ramp Pecking Order, her nuke often doesn’t crit for me, Play Rough misses a lot (and proceeded to twice in this clear). The one area where Mina accels is Fairy-weak content where her damage output is acceptable. DeNA thought to build Fairy-Weak Cynthia around Summer Marnie by adding Wise Entry so by extension Mina also handles the stage. With the EX boost and SS Mina’s existence Granbull viability is… better. The unfortunate thing about Fairy Zone compared to the Terrains is that it expires earlier, thankfully this week DeNA gifted us permanent field effects. I used SS Mina as if there was no permanent Terrain, also so I could that 2x Sync Buff. Kiawe is the necessarily evil crit buffer, I was a cheeky one for not running Sharp Entry 1 SS Mina. Overall Mina is kind of a mixed bag, with Lodge Lillie EX, SS Lana’s Moonblast Mode, even Anni Lillie’s Moonblast Mode I can’t really justify Mina EX outside of this stage and Latias.
