It my personal opinion no, shadow Pokémon get 2x attack but when purified it goes away. However If you have a really strong shadow onix or steelix and you want the hundo then you can but I don’t think it would be wise to purify

Aside from the question of which way is better, I don’t do irreversible things unless/until there’s an immediate need for the result. So I would at least wait until the actual situation arises where you need a good onix to use today and purified is better for that need than shadow.
That’s assuming you’re looking for practical battle-related advice. Collecting hundos just because you like them is a good reason too.
