  1. I’ve had to keep around my 10+ year old PS3 for these games hoping Konami would fix things with Kojima eventually…And now they’re going to be portable?! Dreams made.

    Why are they not releasing the GCN remake instead? Pretty weird that they’d use the original ps game instead

    Since there’s likely a lot of people on this subreddit who are probably exclusively familiar with Snake as the guy with the C4 in Smash Bros I can’t recommend this series enough especially if you like narrative driven games. In my eyes games like Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater have stories that exemplify how the process of telling stories in gaming is so different from any other medium. Snake Eater in particular has a simpler story than most of the other games in this collection but it’s presented beautifully and tells a pretty heartbreaking story of a man who is only just discovering the shade of grey in a conflict previously built on black/white ideologies clashing with each other

    It’s difficult because if you’re not into watching or listening to cutscenes that are super expository it’s a very high barrier of entry. This series loves relishing in its ability to doll out details in increments and it really requires you to pay attention to even the shortest of Codec conversations or watch hours of cutscenes before you even get to control anything, but that’s also why I think it’s special. It still manages to take full advantage of the interactive element of gaming despite how much time is spent watching these other elements and rewards your ability to go off the set story path and exercise curiosity, not to mention all the fourth wall breaks referencing that these characters know this is a video game. It’s honestly a series I think everyone should at least try because it stands out that much even compared to other stealth games

  4. This is my jam. This is the best news ive heard on the switch in the past few years.

  5. Can’t watch the trailer currently. Any indication if the VR missions from MGS2 are included? Precious childhood memories!

    For anyone interested in the physical release, the switch version will have a mandatory download of around 22GB, only 2.4GB will be on the game card. Buy any other version if you want the game complete on disc.

  7. I wish it also had the gamecube remake of 1.

    Hoping that there will be more volumes on the switch , maybe rising will be on switch and v too?

    I wonder how the psycho mantis fight is going to be in this version… and it better have the other cool Easter egg too!!!

    I already have the Legacy Collection on PS3 and since these don’t seem to have much in the way of remastering I think I’d rather take this on the Switch over other platforms so I get MGS in handheld.
    Even though I think MGS1 is superior, it’s a shame if Twin Snakes doesn’t make an appearance again at some point. Curious about this being billed at Volume 1 for the Switch too. I wonder what the Switch could feasibly run out of what’s left. Presumably Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain are out of the question since they could have come out on Switch already and is MGS4 too big too? That pretty much just leaves Peace Walker since Portable Ops is exiled.

    This is going to be great, but will probably play better on other consoles. I’ll get it for PS5

    Is it weird that this was one of my favorite announcements of the Direct? To my knowledge, the only way to play the full main series (MGS V aside) up to this point was to own a PS3. I never had one and, though I’ve never played these games, I wasn’t about to buy a dead system *just* for this one new experience. It’s cool that they’re finally available elsewhere!

    This is by far the best gaming news for me in a long while. My favorite games from my childhood/youth and I haven’t been able to play these for a long time (because Konami), and now I can play all of them – on a portable console!

  14. yorick__rolled

    I saw the Arkham collection announcement and said to myself that MGS is the only thing keeping my PS3 around.

    And now here we are.

  15. graphicka

    Hype, Iv always wanted to play metal gear but only ever Nintendo consoles

  16. ChasingPerfect28

    The Metal Gear Solid series was my white whale for the Nintendo Switch. Never thought Konami would touch these group of games after what happened with Kojima.

    Super excited to FINALLY play them for the first time. I’ve watched let’s play videos of Metal Gear Solid 1 through Metal Gear Solid 4.

    It’s great to see Snake back.

  17. coope2001

    Attention metal gears solid fans I have a confession to make………..I have never played a metal gear solid game before.

  18. ChiltonGains

    Too many games I wanna play are being released in a one week period:

    * World of Horror – 10/19
    * Spider-Man 2 – 10/20
    * Super Mario Bros Wonder – 10/20
    * Metal Gear Solid Master Collection – 10/24

    Hoping that MGS will eventually get discounted, like other Konami collections.

  19. mintyfresh888

    They should redo the gamecube version of 1

  20. Victory74998

    Did they list the wrong sizes on the eshop page? 1.7 GB for everything seems really small.

  21. angrytasbard

    What I wanna know is will these games be using the HD collection versions, in other words the much better substance and subsistence versions of 2 & 3. I really hope so.

  22. MoonieSarito

    I really hope Metal Gear Rising is in Vol 2, honestly it’s the only one in the series I wanted to play.
