So, basically, a year ago, he made a statement he wanted to make a Mario RPG 2 as his final game, but looked like he wasn’t in the industry anymore and making music.
Looked at his twitter account and turns out, he’s not working on the remake of the original one and was as suprised as everyone about the annoucement, yet very happy about it and looks forward the release!
Edit: They surely couldn’t know he would be interested in a sequel when making the remake, since he retired after Alphadreams bankrupcy, and made his statement when the game was in surely well advanced development state and peeps under DNA. Dunno if there is other ancient Alphadreams members on it yet, but we at least know the composer did return!
I am not involved in the remake.
But I am very surprised and pleased with the news!— chihiro fujioka (@ChihiroFujioka) June 22, 2023

Aw man. I had a glimmer of hope that the ex-Alpha Dream staff was working on this remake.
But then who is making this? Nintendo EPD? A Square Enix internal team?
That is a little bit of a dick move
Reminds me of the Animaniacs reboot and Slappy’s actor and writer, who had spend decades trying to get the show back and wasn’t even invited to work on the reboot
Apparently twitter is now invisible to non-account-holders? Is there a screenshot of the tweets somewhere?
