Pokemon Go

Noob questions: is this a rare/good shiny? And also, why does this Ponyta look different but isn’t a shiny? Will Rapidash look the same if I evolve it?

    1. shiny Dragonite would be a really rare spawn if just spawned as a Dragonite, Dratini’s shiny is just as rare as most shinies at 1/500.

    2. That’s a Galarian (gen 8) Ponyta, its a regional from, regional forms were introduced in Alola (gen 7)

    3. The rapidash will be the galarian from, not the fiery Kanto one

First question: Yes that shiny dragonite is super rare and many would kill to have it!

Second question: In the more recent Pokémon games, there have been regional variants of existing pokémon (They are called Alolan, Galarian and Hisuian forms). Your Ponyta is from Galar so it looks different and has a Psychic typing instead of fire. It turns into this super cool unicorn so you could evolve it if you want.

I’m basically a pokemon noob too, I’ve only played Go and one or two other games. I don’t even know most of the type matchups by heart yet.

IDK about the Dragonite, but that Ponyta is Galarian. You can check it out in the built-in Pokédex. Some pokémon have multiple variants, sometomes with different types. Zigzagoon has a Galarian version, for example! Just as Growlithe. So if you already caught any of those, that’s another entry to check. All the Kanto birds have a type variant – Galarian Zapdos is Fighting, Galarian Moltres is Dark, and Galarian Articuno is Psychic, if I recall correctly.

Granted, Ponyta’s is probably most drastic change. The typing persists through evolutions, just like shiny-ness.

Granted, I’m still fairly new to Pokémon myself, so watch out for people correcting me.
