Microsoft sharing Nintendo and Son’s business, even if it obvious, is not going to earn them any friends.

  2. elephantsystem

Isn’t there always a new console being developed? Like Nintendo R&D doesn’t shutter their doors once the Switch came out.

  3. BridgemanBridgeman

Hope it’s a ways off, just got my oled Switch

  4. Bridgeburner493

Twistedvoxel writes article about the bloody obvious.

  5. ursaUW-0406

Don’t they have NDA for that kinda stuff?

  6. spinzaku97

I still don’t understand how people like the author of the article are still clinging to the idea of a “Pro” model instead of an actual successor when the current Switch is already 6 years old.

  7. Mr_Saturn_

Microsoft is trying to make themselves look bad vs Nintendo and Sony in front of regulators so they can close the activision deal

  8. Good to hear that they’re keeping the successor in the Switch family.

  9. ej_stephens

I am very ready for a switch successor. The console’s power was acceptable when it came out but it’s very much holding games back at this point. A switch pro should have come out 3 years ago but now it’s time for a new generation

  10. ants_in_my_ass

and sony is developing the ps5 and microsoft the xbox [stupid name][number or letter]

Breaking News: Nintendo is making a new console

  12. Duh? I’ve never heard of nintendo not immediately starting on their next console after one is released.

  13. GoldenTriforceLink

The court docs say they believe it will launch early 2024.

  14. Papa-pwn

As inconsequential as it is for the overall performance, I’m really intrigued by the names of the devices.

Can’t wait to see what the next console is called!

  15. Nintendo is working on hardware? I thought they make cards. Crazy to think about.

  16. Cyber_Emblem

I have to ask, why is no one stating the obvious name for a Switch Successor?

It should obviously be the “Master Switch”.

  17. Faelysis

Nintendo confirmed it like 2 years ago they were working on the next generation console and not a Switch ‘Pro’. Anyone can come with the codename NX-2 at this point. And they said early this year that no announcement for 2023 so a lot of fan are actually expecting the announcement in 2024Q1 for a possible release for 2024 Holiday. Rumor this, leak this but all of this are pretty much common sense and nothing new

  18. Nintendomandan

Company who makes gaming consoles working on new gaming console. WOW

  19. Of course it is…in 2024 we will be 7 years onwards with the switch 1.

It’s not a matter of IF its in development It’s WHEN it’s releasing that is the question.

2024 or 2025, my money is on a Q1/Q2 2024 personally speaking with backwards compatibility hopefully (and crossplatforms for some months at least)

  20. tendeuchen

Yeah, Nintendo should definitely stick with the Switch model and form factor from here on out. It’s the only thing that really sets them apart from the competition, other than their games, and it’s the marriage between the Nintendo home console and handheld that we’ve always wanted that has something for everyone.

Now we iterate, make it more powerful, and give it a bigger/better screen (OLED is amazing though), and keep making them backwards compatible into the future. There is no reason other than corporate greed for our games not to transfer over.

  21. evilcheesypoof

A new more powerful switch that plays a new generation of games and backwards compatible with all the old switch games would be Nintendo’s best move, which is why I’m very cautiously optimistic lol

  22. My dreams of an upgraded dock w/ GPU are not dead

  23. schiggy_693

people think those people only have jobs for 1-2 years stop 5 years and start working again lol

  24. DarthStormborn

So if I was to buy a Switch now (my original one was stolen), which model should I get? 2024 isn’t far off

  25. RealCrazyChicken

It better not be called the “new” switch, it was dumb with the 3ds it’ll be dumb again. What happens when the “new” 3ds is 35 years old?

  26. Shloopadoop

    Nintendo Switch Wonder.

    Super Mario => Super Nintendo

    Mario 64 => Nintendo 64

    Mario 3D Land => Nintendo 3DS

New Super Mario Bros U => WiiU

    Super Mario Bros. Wonder…

    Nintendo Switch Wonder, folks.

  27. ruttettur

So is that picture real, or just or just prime clickbait?

  28. Sonicyellow49

Microsoft be leaking out everybody’s secrets

  29. No shit, I’d guess it’s been in development for years.

  30. Well with the SteamDeck being a huge success and being able to emulate Nintendo games, they had to announce something.

  31. Rum_Ham94

Just give me a more powerful version of the switch that is on par with current gen consoles (or not far behind) – 4k, 60fps if possible, expanded storage, keep the OLED screen as default, allow for backwards compatibility with switch games, and gosh darn it fix those drifting joy cons. That’s literally all I want and I don’t think it’s much of an ask.

  32. Ldn_brother

Well I just bought a switch! I would like at least a couple years before nintendo release a new console!

  33. If that’s true, I wonder if it means Nintendo wants to just only make Nintendo switches now, like how other console manufacturers always release a refreshed iteration of the previous console? Or maybe Nintendo is actually looking into pulling a DS and making a small/temporary console lineup.

Either way, I’m honestly surprised by this. Nintendo is the type of company to always make something new, so I find it a bit odd they’re not looking into doing it now. Not that I’m complaining, though, I love the hybrid aspect of the switch.

  34. Stinkyclamjuice15

Nice, I’m glad they aren’t gonna shit on all my eshop purchases. Hopefully switch is gonna just become their “Playstation” so to speak and this will be the formula moving forward….

  35. I really hope they add a VR Headset. Something like the Wii U controller, where you have a console that runs everything, but can toggle VR mode and have it transmit to a dumb VR headset.

  36. ison2010

I wonder how easy would be to launch 2 products… An upgraded switch and an optional base that’s boosts performance to current Gen or above. Are you a mobile player… Sure get the new switch… Are you a hardcore dude… Here take the base as well and play latest call of duty at 4k/60 in your monitor.

  37. Hopefully its more console than handheld and they have a separate dedicated handheld

  38. Microsoft, the ”friend” who gossip about everybody

  39. TinyDogGuy

It bothers me every time I see concept idea of a new Switch and it doesn’t have removable controllers. le plastic sticks and buttons constantly getting mashed about, are going to break down at some point.

Joycons are not perfect and make creaking sounds. BUT! I’d rather pay $80 to replace controllers, than $350 for a new system or wait for mail-in repairs.

Or at the very least, make it so new joysticks can be easily installed without voiding the warranty.

What’s with Microsoft “leaking” details about consoles lately? What does Microsoft have in the works to stay competitive?

  41. lookachoo

I hope they don’t call it the ‘New Switch’
