I was kinda bored so I made a little sketch of an idea, that I had for a successor of the Switch.
I gave it the name „Nintendo Switch More”.
The gimmick of it would be, that you’ll be able to Switch between even more playstyles.
The console would have a second screen with the Sticks and face buttons, that you could either pull out and mimic a Nintendo DS or detach completley and mimic the playstyle of the Wii U gamepad.
It would also be compatible with the Joycons of the current Switch but would’nt be sold with them to keep the price a bit lower.
Due to the design it should in theory be able to play Nintendo DS and 3DS games without having to work around so much.

That bottom flip out screen looks like a warranty disaster
I hope it utilises a second screen but instead of a flip down screen its more like the wiiu, where the console (or dock) is running on the tv in adition to the switch screen in your hands.
I get wanting to be able to use existing accessories to reduce waste and cost of ownership for people already in the ecosystem, but I think they should get as far away from joycons as possible. Last thing we need is a new system to inherit the previos systems most complained about component.
Would be neat, but I don’t think it’s worth it for the durability and manufacturing cost concerns. I also think it would potentially be awkward for development.
I’m generally against gimmicks aside from the hybrid portable thing, if you want to call that a gimmick. The only gimmick that was worth it was the Wii’s motion controls. Wii U’s tablet gimmick didn’t save it. 3D on the 3DS was neat, but it was such an underutilized feature. I’m fully convinced that if the 3DS came out originally as the “2DS or DS 2” it would have done just as well sales wise, potentially better if it allowed it to come out at a lower price without the 3D tech in it.
Dual screen wont happen again on a mainstream console, nintendo tried that with the wii u, and it was a disaster.
Yeah, no I can already see problems with this design. You tried and that’s the important thing but I don’t see this working, that’s a warranty disaster just waiting to happen.
People have never been so grateful that you don’t work for Nintendo R&D. What a terrible idea. Not every idea has to be shared Lmao.
I’m imagining the switch successor will be even closer to a 3DS/Wii U hybrid. Special dock which is also compatible with the original switch. Switch Duo, it’s Nintendo of course it isn’t a 2 or pro. Two screens that clamshell. Built like a house, think ds lite level durability. Joycons are back but not his time they’re made out of nintendium. Street pass is back. This is all speculation.
I just saw this project today and it’s kinda like what you’re talking about here.

That looks pretty uncomfortable. You want to be able to rest your hands on something when playing a game, but the bottom screen would get in the way. Your arms would get tired just holding it up.
