it’s rare insomuch that it’s not in the wild and is pretty much egg-hatch only. events that highlight Riolu hatches are few and far between, so I think a lot of players incubated TONS of eggs at this recent event for the shiny.
imo, eggs have been trash over the past year(s) so incubators have been unused — Riolu day was a great way to dust off those incubators. for me, I dedicated the full 3-hours to hatching and walking, and hatched about 40 riolu that day with 2 shiny (yay 2km eggs!). so if you went ham like me on riolu day, you likely (hopefully?) got a shiny or hundo

It used to be one of the hardest shiny to get:
You get only one chace a week from the Adventure Sync 50 km reward egg, with a 1 in 64 chance of being shiny while having to compete with the other more common hatches from that same egg.
But recently we had the Riolu hatch day where every 2 km egg had a near guaranteed Riolu with a boosted 1 in 10 chance to being shiny.
So currently it’s still as difficult to get as before using the normal method, but many players got multiple during that event, so there’s a ton of them now.
