The next “Nintendo gimmick” may be something interesting

One of the few official words about potential next gen system by [Nintendo](https://metro.co.uk/2019/07/05/nintendo-hints-next-gen-controller-plans-10122280/) themselves, in which shigeru miyamoto has said one of the plans for their next gen hardware is to revolutionised the standard controller, and one of the important comments from him about this is that they also admitted that motion control did not achieved that goal, even if it did sales wise.

I think this is actually a green flag, on what Nintendo may be cooking, by them knowing what could be revolutionary and what’s just gonna be a fad later on especially since eventhough motion controller has made Nintendo billions before, yet still saying they did not hit the mark like they intended previous.

Not gonna lie, for once I just want Nintendo to focus on good hardware. The Switch is already good, I just want better Pro Controllers and Joycons that doesn’t drift after like 48h of being used, a more powerful version of the Switch Straight Up.

I know Nintendo is known for their gimmicks with consoles and controllers but sometimes they are hit or miss.

Gyro for aiming is not a fad lol it’s made fps games possible from the couch since I can add it to almost every pc game using a ps5 controller.

They *don’t* know though, until after the fact.

What if it’s a controller, but it’s upside down?

Nintendo gimmicks are always interesting. Whether or not they’re well implemented or supported is a different story.

Guys! What if they sold the next system with some sort of Robot that acted like a gaming buddy and maybe operated a controller or something.

Would be a pretty neat concept.

  7. Messing with the controller is a dangerous move. Even when they pulled it off during the Wii era, third-party developers put almost no effort into implementing decent motion controls. The Wii U was even worse, even Nintendo seemed confused about what to do with the giant tablet screen.

All we really need are more durable (and possibly less cramped) joy-cons.

  8. The pro controller is perfect how it is. No need to change it

I dunno man. I just wanna veg out on the couch and play my games. Was not a fan of the motion controls for the Wii. It was cool at first, but I don’t want to flail my hands around to complete a puzzle every time.

What if you can rearrange and choose placement of the buttons on the controller

My hope is that this means that they’re perfecting the joycon for both handheld AND sideways play. Its a tall ask, but very few people think the joycons are comfortable, and being able to play 2 player games without needing to bring anything extra is really nice.

Would be cool if the joycons were a little bigger and formfitting for your hands. Also would like them to add the adaptive triggers that PS5 uses, as well as the built in speaker like playstation does too.

Cant imagine what else they would do, so im excited for further innovation

Bring back the vitality sensor you cowards!! Better yet put it inside the controls.

  14. Improve, don’t revolutionize. Nintendo is best at this. The Wii was dogshit for those of us that were expecting a normal console and got that crap. Same goes for the DS.

  15. I enjoy Nintendo nonsense. The ds, the Wii, and so on were all interesting if nothing else

I’m surprised to see so much skepticism, I want Nintendo to try new stuff, otherwise what’s the point of them having their own hardware? If they just do hardware upgrades then it would be better if they were multiplat. I wanna see them get creative and come up with a fun idea to blow our minds. But to be honest, with VR existing, I find it difficult for them to surprise us.

  17. I think we’ll just get higher powered switch. There’s rumors of this. Rumors are usually close to true. We’d have rumors about some crazy Nintendo idea by now. I think the console after switch 2 will be their next gimmick and I assume they are waiting for VR to become affordable. They’ve wanted VR since the 90s. They’ll do it when they can.

Prediction: A camera is going to track your eye movement for better aiming and collection coins/secondary items.

I thought the switches was pretty interesting

  20. This makes it sound like we’re going to have a power glove style controller. As good as or better than VR, with finger specific controls. I’m imagining a bionic, terminator looking glove that you strap on with little inlets for your fingers to rest in.

OR, a sensor like the Apple headset that has many cameras to track your hands. That’s probably more likely than a complete bionic glove. Easier to sell and less parts to break.

I really don’t want another Kinect generation 😴.

As long as there’s a controller option for every game, I’ll be good. But also, how would the Switch mechanic work with this idea? Only in docked mode could you use the hand motions. Too many holes in this idea.

    Mind controlled gaming.

    Nintendo UpUrs.

Controller is a pill shaped object about the size of an extra large egg, and works by being in near field range of the end of the spinal cord, reading nerve electrical impulses as inputs.

    It’s a suppository.

As long as the next Nintendo console is fully backwards-compatible, they will have a lot of happy customers including myself.
