I mean correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Articuno one of the ones that is better non-shadow? Either way personally I would keep shadow just for the trophy but purify might be overall better

In both cases regular and shadow Mamoswine are significantly better, and it is much easier and cheaper to farm Swinub XL candy than Articuno XL candy.
The regular / purified Articuno will be weaker for both.
For PvP, [purified is better, but it’s not great. PvP poke ranks it at #70 overall for regular and #81 for shadow.](https://pvpoke.com/rankings/all/10000/overall/articuno/) it’s battle ranking isn’t terribly high and it loses to some pretty common Pokémon in the league. Here, as well, Mamoswine, terribly outclasses it, and the Swinub XL comment from before is just as relevant.
So, all that said, if I were you, I’d do whatever you want, it’s a trophy either way. As it’s just a game, and there’s tons of other actually useful shadows to power up and enjoy. I have a regular hundo, though, and I don’t use it at all, since I have a team of Mamoswine that bulldoze anything around, pun intended, haha.
Just do whatever is fun for you, there’s no amazing optimal regret be damned decision here.

Yes I understand shadows hit harder but unless you really into pvp, purify and home them away. Not like you could leave them as gym defenders anyways (the shadow legendaries, gladly leave a Shadow Slaking and such though lol)

Honestly, it’s not very useful for raids either way.
