It’s a nice story but on the scale of an economy of the size of Japan, that’s not going to have a very significant effect. Like, at most ~0.1-0.2% of GDP for the month will have been the game.
That’s ridiculous. Japan is the 3rd largest GDP in the world. Even Nintendo’s overall sales have no impact at all.

10 million worldwide in 3 days is an insane number, and that is only physical. No word on the digital sales.

TOTK fans will grasp at anything to convince the world that it’s the greatest game of all time lmao
Edit: TOTK fans will downvote anyone that does anything aside from praise the game

How much of Japan’s GDP is Nintendo?

This article seems absurd but the original article it sites from a Japanese business reporter makes far more sense.
The author claims that *a stronger video game market as a whole* fueled by Tears, Street Fighter 6, and FFXVI which all came out this summer, helped boost Japan’s GDP. Which is very believable.
2022 was carried by two Pokemon releases and Elden Ring, with Splatoon helping a little. Sony had horizon and God of War but those were made by western studios.

I mean the surge of tourism after fully reopening is probably much more significant, but whatever you say.
Faelysis
It’s like one of the Dragon Qu’est game in the 90’s which cause one of the biggest absenteeism level in Japan which kinda force publisher to release game on Friday instead of mid-week since then

Tears is also getting blamed for helping to raise inflation in England. It’s a geopolitically successful game: https://www.gamesradar.com/zelda-tears-of-the-kingdom-is-getting-partial-blame-for-the-uks-record-inflation/
Forbes is reporting it, which is probably a bit more of an accurate source. So there’s truth to this.
