Trade secret, individual stats don’t jump more than two notches so the unpurified version had 13, 13, 13 stats, at minimum. That’s not all that bad for original stats.

purified mine into a 4* aswell and it just looks precious! don’t be sad about it

I think there should be a shadow event where you get to unpurify Pokémon
I know the shadow is so much better for gameplay, but the aura is so cool I probably would’ve purified just for that tbh
With this particular shadow, and the lugia, I think it’s okay. The purified version just looks nicer.
It gives +2 to each stat when you purify. So at worst it was a 13-13-13
yea ive got a shadow mewtwo I can purify for a hundo as well but I can’t bring myself to do it haha
Mine is purified so I could swap it with someone else’s ho-oh when we got lucky friends

When you say “button mashing to power up” do you mean that you were powering up the Ho-Oh half a level at a time? (I.e: hitting power up, confirming, hitting power up again etc etc.)
Cause if that’s the case you know you can just press the minus button as soon as you open the power up menu and it goes straight to whatever the highest level the pokemon can be currently is. Or just hold down the plus button until the meter stops temporarily.
Purified is better for ML for non-attack-weighted pokemon.

I purified both lugia and ho-oh because I thought those forms looked better and the lugia is a hundo as well

I mean it’s still a win. I purified my near perfect Luigia and now it’s a perfect with the aura around it as well
It could only be a 13/13/13/87% or better to purify to a hundo which is still pretty good.
