do they not spawn near you? i catch like 6 a day in nyc though am understanding you may be a rural player
Sorry, but that’s a huge waste of rare candies. Spend them on Rayquaza my dude. Wailmer had a spotlight hour and was an event spawn for the beach event or whatever it was called.

At least he’s only a 1km per candy pokemon! I’ve got Larvester as my buddy now. ~120 candies and need 400 with each candy being a 5km walk 🙁
Had a similar experience with having to evolve a magikarp to gyarados for a research task. Took a while with a mix of walking for candies and catching magikarps (with pinaps) just to get 360 candies altogether (used a purified magikarp)

Wailmer spotlight hour was like a month ago……
If you play it you can easily get 500+ candy in 1 hr. Even 1000 is possible.
The most insane thing I’ve done for this game was to evolve my noibat with only the candy I got from walking, you get 1 every 5 km, you need 400 let’s just say it took a while, and now they spawn a lot and I feel dumb

I missed the spotlight hour not realizing it needed that much to evolve but at that point I had just came back to the game since August 2016 so I didn’t even know spotlight hour existed.
hmmm during events, if spawn can use pineapple for double candy

Had Noibat for over a year as a buddy when he first released just to get that noivern. Lord that tried my patience..

Noibat is the one that took me forever. I only had one and walked it until I could evolve it. This was when it first came out so you could only get it through eggs.
I’ve almost come full circle to evolving my shiny one to a wailord now. I remember there was an event last month where Wailmer spawned frequently. Combine that with pinaps and I managed to earn about 200 candies during the event alone.
Wait until op realizes how op wailmer is in comparrison to wailord 🤣
How? In the last two months there was a spotlight hour and an event where they were spawning like crazy for a week. Could get enough to evolve several.

In 5 years, you’ll have enough candy to evolve a shadow, purify it (for the dex entries), then transfer it without thinking twice.
400 candies at 1km/candy = 400km walked
125 candies for a 3 evolution mon at 5km/candy = 525km
Sure, the number of candy needed is larger, but you’re walking way less.
Now do it again for larvesta. And stufful. And wimpod. And magikarp
