Yoshi confirmed as playable in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, in case anyone still doubted it. If anyone can translate the article better than Google Translate you’re welcome to have a go at it. Image from October issue of Dengeki Nintendo.

This isn’t anything new. Those screen shots are directly from trailer from a couple months ago.

Weird to see him hold a Shell in his hands instead of his mouth.

“Just like Yoshi’s island but this time his partner is adult Mario”

  4. MagnaVis

I thought that was obvious. The trailer had a snippet where four Yoshi were running around with their faces next to the life count.

What about green Mario, is he playable?

I like yoshi to be in his Super Mario World state. I’d like it if they removed the floating mechanic.

But can I jump off him to save myself and send him to his inevitable demise?

Yoshi looks uncanny with these body proportions

So basically the mario run cast is being used

    Shame because i wanted rosalina

The question was more, and is still: Is this an always thing, or a gimmick for certain levels thing?

Translation is mostly spot on, but the original broke up “パトナー” into 2 lines which is why the toner where it should be partner.

    patona- vs tona-

Similar with Yoshi Island getting broken up into Yoshia and Land.

Can we still use them like a power up like mario world? that was one of my biggest disappointments with NSMBU was that you’d lose your yoshi after the level

Although the Japanese does in fact read “Yoshi is also controllable” I don’t think it makes it clear whether it’s as a separate character or as a power-up (as the picture shows)

  14. Double-Helix

The translation says ‘controlled’ which doesn’t really suggest he is a playable character. I’m imagining Super Mario World instead of Yoshis island.
