People are upset about this, but I’m sure Charles is pretty pleased. Staying on Nintendo’s payroll as a passive consultant instead of having to work sounds like a great transition into retirement. The dude is 67, I doubt he wants to keep working forever.

It’s a bittersweet day for us Nintendo fans. Of course I’m sad because Mario has had such an impact on my life, but I’m happy that Charles gets to relax now. Thanks for everything!

I was literally thinking to myself last night while watching him in the movie The Game (1997) how cool it was that he was still voicing Mario.
An end of an era, I guess.
