Pokemon Masters – Water Type High Score Event (343,704 pts)

It’s very unlikely I’ll get much higher than this with my roster. Might grind a bit more to see if 350k is possible but I’m happy with uploading this for now.

I am missing at least 4 elite water type units: Kyogre, Volcanion, Urshifu, S-Suicune. If I had them, I would also be pushing for 400k, no doubt about that. I’m also missing the two Vaporeons from Lyra and Adaman. Funnily enough I really think most of the “top” players from LG have been finally exposed as whales / frauds now that they decided to include “Collective Strength” in the leaderboards.

1) Misty: Swampert (6EX, 5/5), Suicune (6EX, 3/5), Vaporeon (3/5) – 73269 pts
Set up rain and spam Muddy Water. The Vaporeon helps a bit with defense and gauge. Swampert goes for OaR / Hide and Sync / Rain MPR / Refreshing Rain. Suicune goes for Potion MPR and MH with Natural Remedy. Vaporeon goes for MPR and Propulsion. You can actually survive the enemy’s second sync if you’re at high health. This is a fairly straightforward battle, just need to get Propulsion at the right times, and not get frozen from the Lapras Blizzard.

2) Marlon: Greninja (6EX, 3/5), Araquanid (6EX, 5/5), Starmie (5*, 3/5) – 76797 pts
Greninja focuses one of the sides first, then the middle. Fairly standard grid, Power Play + Soften Up. Brutal Swing Flabbergast gives us the confusion 1000 points. Lana needs Wide Guard MPRs in order to survive the ending sequence. Brutal Swing flinch helps buy some time, but Wide Guard is really what saves you. Starmie provides general buffs and support.

3) Lana: Dewott (6EX, 5/5), Feraligatr Silver (5*, 5/5), Blastoise (6EX, 5/5) – 64089 pts
Spent the most time on this one. The sides should be focused on first. Ideally you weaken them to around 1 HP. Then post sync you can flinch the Cloyster, and then when they switch to the sides, you can immediately take the sides out for another turn skip on top of the flinch turn skip. Fifth sync hits the Cloyster and should take him to very low HP, where you can finish him off. Liquidation and Razor Shell will always drop defense, so you use that to control Lana’s Towering Force damage. At +4 Defense, Towering Force at +1 puts us into Sync Emergency range. Blastoise goes for Water Guard as lucky skill. This helps him survive the enemy sync, and can sometimes absorb a regular hit post-sync.

4) Nessa: Empoleon (6EX, 5/5), Psyduck (6EX, 5/5), Primarina (6EX, 5/5) – 63009 pts
Barry sucks but he’s all I got. Psyduck wants MPR on both the TM and Potion. Primarina goes for Pinpoint Entry 2 for more accurate Sings. Primarina can drop special defense and speed with Sparkling Aria, but it’s hard to rely on that when half the time you’re using Sing or TMs. The good thing about this team is the AoE moves help with the 50 attack requirement. The problem is that Barry is just not that strong even with Inertia + Cakewalk.

5) Archie: Feraligatr (6EX, 5/5), Floatzel (5*, 5/5), Samurott (6EX, 5/5) – 66540 pts
Floatzel gives us 1000 points for confusion and consistent flinching. Samurott goes for Slippery + Shielded + Endurance on the grid. The main goal is to have Samurott survive the sync so he can absorb an additional hit from Endurance. Easier said than done. I did give Samurott Healthy Healing to make this a bit more consistent.
