Absolutely nothing besides say your buddy brought it from my experience

receiving a souvenir actually gives you an extra heart from your buddy under the “bonus” section. other than that, souvenirs are pretty much useless. there are 15 unique souvenirs in total iirc, and i believe the way it works is that each souvenir can only be found in a certain few environments (ie; “city” or “forest”) in case you cared to have one of your buddies collect them all. i dont remember the specifics of how regional souvenirs work, but i think thats the gist of it
tldr you get an extra heart with your buddy when they give it to you
