Oh no
doh_imissed
They wont stop me. I own the games I emulate. Genuinely hope everyone behind Denuvo slowly dissipates into a vile gas never to be seen again
Dukemon102
The biggest issue with Denuvo is that **legal costumers** get punished with worse performance.
The least thing we want is games becoming even laggier. The console is already limited enough as it is.
WillKuzunoha
Great so now my switch games which barely run are going to be going at a complete slog.
abstractism
fuck denuvo. you’d think since the switch is the least powerful of the consoles that they wouldn’t ruin performance on DRM garbage.
Dragon_Avalon
>Block switch PC emulation
Lol. LMAO, even.
Problem with companies is that the more they double down on this, the more people will persist to overcome it.
All this is going to do is encourage people to push back. *Especially* if it means protecting access to the products they purchased, or preventing performance issues.

I’m assuming this won’t mean Nintendo is putting Denovo in their own games, just that Denovo is approved to be used on switch, but if Nintendo did do that it would be a fantastic own goal on their part
Fluffy_Space_Bunny
I don’t think they’ll be very successful in blocking emulation. If anything they’ve just given the dev teams a fun new challenge which they will undoubtably overcome.
SatyrAngel
Misleading title, it says its now available for devs, not that they are going to use it. The Switch is a portable console, imagine if I need to connect to internet in the middle of nowhere.
chibialoha
I’ve got my feelings on piracy and they’re mostly negative, that being said, Denuvo is probably one of the worst ways out there to stop it. Its the Norton of the anti-piracy world. I would pirate a game specifically to AVOID Denuvo. This is not the way to stop pirates, if anything I think the performance hit might actually push more people into it.
xoxchitliac
absolutely ridiculous, nearly the best selling console of all time and the games fly off the shelves
there is no need from any perspective to be cracking down on piracy to the point where you’re punishing legit customers
ImmaculateWeiss
Denuvo usually requires an always online connection, this could be a disaster on Switch
Pamander
There’s already minimal to no headroom on a lot of switch titles, I can’t imagine this is gonna help no matter what Denuvo tries to claim about a lack of impact on performance.
phaserdel
I like the Switch but some of the decisions just make it hard to love Nintendo.
Why isn’t it possible for me to buy retro games? Im not interested in a subscription service and i don’t play any Switch games online.
I’d happily buy something like Paper Mario 64 for 25 bucks AUD but instead it’s temporary ownership that could be taken away, this sort of crap is what drives me to emulate.
julito427
Scarlet and Violet are gonna just crash non stop at this point lol
AceBr3ak
Need denuvo to go bankrupt
awesomesauce135
Denuvo is useless. It gets cracked before games even launch and hinders the performance of regular copies. Besides, piracy is an issue of supply and availability, not because people want to steal or get things for free.
OutbackBrah
the amount of games ive bought because I tried them out in non-traditional methods first is much higher than games i’ve randomly bought on a whim
Yorself12345
Imagine playing age of calamity split screen with denuvo
DoombotBL
Wow that’s lame
TruePapaiHue
Switch already struggling with performance, that can’t be good.
LJMLogan
As if modern switch ports couldn’t get any worse…
silverfaustx
Fuck denuvo
RchUncleSkeleton
It’s fine. We already got all the good games that will be on the Switch. Maybe for the next console they’ll implement it, but for now, I woukd say it’s a non-starter.
dekgear
Who’s gonna bet that hackers will just find a workaround and people will just keep playing on emulators anyways, while legit players get punished lol.
leethobbit
First of all, this is super late. Lol. Second of all, I really hate malware style DRM bs like Denuvo. I refuse to buy anything with it implemented. I’ve really wanted to play MH Rise on Steam too, but I won’t buy it until the license expires and they remove it.
Wubbzy-mon
The weirdest thing about all of this, is that this is a Sony branch. Denuvo is technically a Sony division.
Also this is apperantly an option that can be removed at a later date, not a requirement.
FredyGarbagis
Again?
5nn0
this sucks 200%
Projekt21
I bet they’re doing this proactively for a Switch 2/Pro announcement. It doesn’t make sense to add Denuvo to a platform that’s 7 years old. Makes sense for it to be ready for the future.
Eidos13
If your Nintendo why wouldn’t you just sell a device to allow people to legally play their switch cards on PC? Doesn’t Nintendo get most their money from software sales anyway?
ImperfectionistCoder
Hey Nintendo..Fuck you scumbags
bcraig10488
Let’s not pretend this isn’t a direct reaction to the thousands and thousands of people who played TOTK on PC before it was even released on switch. Of course Nintendo doesn’t want that to happen again. Can you honestly blame them?
Now every paying switch consumer gets to suffer for it with denuvo’s dogshit performance. Hope it was worth it.
Blaz3
Possibly the worst news I’ve heard. I don’t want to pirate switch games, but I don’t want denuvo’s SSD raping, performance crashing disgrace of a piece of software to touch the switch.
googler_ooeric
so block those of us who emulate for a few months until it gets cracked, and make people who play on switch have an even laggier experience forever?
