The big elephant in the room is that Mario games typically run on a deterministic physics engine at a fixed timestep. This is why MM2 online was so horrible, the game couldn’t update even a single frame until it had already received all 4 players inputs for that frame. this game’s “ghost” method allows them to bypass this restriction in a way that is practically seamless.
It’s a shame we won’t get true 2D online multiplayer any time soon but I think this is realistically the better of the two options (until they figure out rollback).

That would be a first for Nintendo.

Well, Nintendo needs to get in gear because in terms of online, they’re about…oh, I don’t know 15 years or so behind Sony and Microsoft?
Fifteen years ago was 2008 and that was the 360 era which had better online than 2023 Nintendo.
Well, I feel old now.

But it works for 3DWorld. I beat that whole game online multiplayer without any hiccups.

Too bad there online is shit and constantly disconnecting

Neat, the removal of collision means Wonder doesn’t have my favorite feature of NSMB. Trolling my friends and getting trolled in turn is *the entire reason I liked 2D Mario in the first place*.
Hope the rest of you like it but to me Mario Wonder is like a hot dog stand that only sells ice cream. I don’t care how good that ice cream is, I specifically want a hot dog. Guess I’ll go find a different hot dog stand.

That’s kinda sad, I liked picking up friends and throwing them into pits

Nintendo still doesn’t understand online play.

The online aspects seemed a lot like what Kojima intended for Death Stranding. Was surprising to see in a 2D Mario but the implementation looks so cool. Cannot wait!

Such sick.

Honestly I’m just glad there’s a way to turn it off without putting my whole Switch on airplane mode. I don’t like multiplayer stuff but I like my switch online to download updates etc

Ie. made for toddlers

No man, I want the stress

I guess having a Yoshi that actually takes damage would be too “stressful” as well.
Sorry, I’m excited for this game but Yoshi is my favorite game character so seeing that he’s relegated to an easy mode is unbelievably disappointing for me.
