And he changed his mind. Dude is almost 70. Let him live his life.

Damn just let the man retire and live his life. He doesn’t owe anyone anything. If he wants to stop voicing Mario that’s his own business.

Fans are taking this crap way to personally.

I’m pointing towards Nintendo being the ones who “retired” him without him really wanting to.

This sub feels like a cult sometimes, you can’t even discuss if maybe Nintendo did something wrong or shitty.

  4. Why are people trying to find conspiracy with this? Just because he said this 2 years ago doesn’t mean he still believes it now. What’s wrong with him changing his mind and just retiring?

I can’t imagine caring this much about a voice actor retiring, much less one known for essentially a single “wahoo.”
    It’s not that serious

  6. All of the VAs for this game are different. Daisy and Toad definitely have new ones.

I think they’re just replacing the entire voice cast for a new era or Mario.

Are you the President of the Charles Martinet fan club , op ?

Why are you simping so hard for a guy who got a golden parachute? And certainly doesn’t care about you lol

If you read the article you posted this is what he said almost directly after the quote in the title.

“If someday I think I am no longer capable of doing it, I will tell Nintendo to look into finding someone else.’’

Just because he wants to doesn’t mean it’s possible. The voice has become painful for him let him rest

I understand he’s an icon and all but seriously does this really matter. To a certain degree yes.

But people are seriously nonstop talking about him. Like we get it he liked his job. But also he probably can’t do the voice without it hurting a bit and he’s pretty old. At some point they were gonna have to replace him.

Nintendo didn’t take him out to a lake and shove him in with a weight, like seriously you guys, chill.

People are really trying to come up with conspiracy theories about this aren’t they.

    It’s not that deep…

Alright. Whatever anyone has ever said even when they were four, we must still consider today.

And perhaps he had a change of heart and simply no longer wants to voice the character, believing that someone else can take on the role. This isn’t the first time he hasn’t voiced the character. I think it’s time for him to retire and enjoy his life

Ah yes, sweet discourse over a change of voice actors.
I guess none of you are Sonic fans. This shit is normal.

Pretty sure Nintendo just low-key fired Charles, as opposed to him actually just stepping down.

Martinet’s comments that he doesn’t even know what an ambassador is, is an obvious tell that Nintendo said, “Hey, step down, we want to move on, but you can still promote Nintendo.”

    A couple of thoughts:

    1. People change their minds, I think that’s worth remembering.
    2. That said, I do suspect that Nintendo initiated this from there side – I would only be speculating as to why, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it was related to pay.

My reason for speculating about pay is because I know – through first-hand experience – that Nintendo pays very poorly. I don’t know what their pay is like in comparison to the rest of the games industry itself, but I do know that their pay is very low when considering individual disciplines (like product management, marketing, etc…).
