I played 3 recently and it’s the first LM game I’ve played. Is this one as good? Looks pretty similar so I’m assuming I’d like it

They could have at least bundled the 3DS remake of the first game in it to justify it :/ we’d have the full trilogy on switch then which would be cool 🙂
I mean I don’t think there’s a single thing new in this? It’s just a 3DS port that will presumably be full price? I can buy a used 2DS and the game for around £50 these days anyway. This switch port doesn’t even look that much different visually speaking anyway.

I never played Luigi’s Mansion 2, but I’ve heard good things. Figured they would give it an October release date considering we’re approaching spooky season. But Summer 2024??? Makes no sense. Lame.

I just hope they’ve added checkpoints mid mission, gave up on the game as I kept dying during a boss resulting in the level having to start over.

SCARESCRAPER IS BACK! I loved the mode where you had to find the escape room before running out of time and collecting more time along the way. I haven’t played the newer luigis mansion 3 online stuff, but the online that launched with the game was not as fun to me as scarescraper.
Luigi sadly saying “help help” while rolled up in a carpet still replays in my head always.

I won’t play this again until they confirm whether they fixed the ice boss or not. Most frustrating, seemingly luck-based boss I’ve ever fought in a video game in my roughly 35 years of playing.

Any ported 3DS games are new to me. I never owned the system, and emulation of 2-screen systems on PC never much appealed to me (2 vertically stacked screens on a wide PC display are janky, and placing them side-by-side is usually not a good idea for gameplay). Same goes for Wii U, for that matter.
I loved LM3, and I’ll be glad to get LM2 when it releases next year, but it’s so far off that I’m not going to obsess over it now. 6-to-9 months to go.

I picked this game up at launch all the way back in 2013 and had a pretty good time, might be worth revisiting, especially since I’m surprised they didn’t cut scarescraper. Was also surprised they went with the EU name of 2 instead of dark moon, guess they didn’t want to confuse the LM3 onlys. Here’s hoping the original gets the ttyd treatment, the 3DS port was cool, but I’d like a real improved HD remake.

Would have been nice if this was bundled in with a port of LM1 remake from 3DS… Or even a port of the GameCube version. But of course Nintendo doesn’t operate that way. Just this one port of a 10 year old 3DS game for $60…

Why does the lighting look so rough? I’ve played the game before, it was pretty fun, but the only reason I could see myself buying it again is for a pretty visual upgrade but I’m not seeing that here. Shame because Luigi’s mansion 3 is probably the best looking switch game there is.
Edit: just realized part of it is that an absurd amount of objects just don’t cast shadows. The trees for instance look really strange outside the mansion just plopped on the ground with light being cast towards them yet no shadow coming from the tree.

Sorry to be negative but this looks really rough. Looks like all they did was upscale the 3DS version and updated some textures. Looks like something running in cemu.

I thought it’d be fun, but I just kept going into the same rooms and couldn’t figure out what to do after a few hours.

Why have they gone so overboard with the stitching/detail on his dungarees (0:36 of the vid for example)? It’s so ugly and distracting. In terms of character design it’s like they’re venturing back into Smash Bros. Brawl levels of hideous.

Really gotta wonder why they announced this so ahead of its release date. It really doesn’t look all that good, either. A full LM3-style remake would’ve been far better (and it would explain why it’s taking so long to release, but that could also be a case of the game being to plug a hole in Nintendo’s release schedule).

I really hope they updated some aspects of the game.
My only gripe with it was you’d be in an area, complete the mission, and E. Gadd would pull you out. I don’t know if it was to artificially lengthen the game, but it was hella annoying.
