I got Archer from the free Team Rocket Executive ticket, and if I ranked the four executives from the one I most wanted to the one I least wanted from the ticket… he would rank fourth lmao. I think all four of them have some neat niches and it’s great that we even get one of them for free, but I would’ve definitely preferred getting one of the other three, especially since I’m comparing their 1/5 kits.
But since I ended up with him, I figured I’d make the most out of it. As a Sprint unit whose sync acceleration shenanigans can all be done at the start of a clear, he’s a good asset for fast CSMM clears. That’s also why I gave him Head Start 1 as a lucky skill.
Here’s how each battle went and the sync grids used:

Head Start 1 at base + Head Start 1 LS + TM means Archer can skip a full turn at CS. Pairing him with another unit who can do so means you can get to sync quite quickly. What adds to Archer’s niche in this aspect is that his TM is an AOE buffing move, so comboing it with someone like Lear can lead to some fun numbers. Anni May completed the team with her Psychic Terrain.

Archer’s front-loaded sync acceleration shenanigans make him a good partner to Event Victor, who appreciates being able to sync faster to make better use of both of his Ghost Zones. Torchic completes Victor’s buffs and also tanks well enough thanks to Victor’s physical shield.

At 1/5, Archer has two multipliers: Hunter’s Instinct and an innate Cakewalk. He has AOE Speed debuffs to set both of those up, though it takes him a while to do so. NC Calem gives him the buffs he needs as well as Dark Zone, while Nanu provided flinches and Defense debuffs.

I don’t think I could’ve done this video without pairing Archer with his favorite person in the world. Speed debuffs mean Archer is a counter to Raikou, and with Classic Giovanni having pretty much everything he needs I figured it was a straightforward duo.

Sprint shenanigans. Having all three makes for some funny sync acceleration strats. It helps that all three of them have ways to support their teammates on top of doing respectable damage so this isn’t as imbalanced of a team comp as it appears.

ngl he was my favorite out of the bunch and I'm glad I won with the 25% chance of getting him with the ticket haha. He just seems a lot of fun and I think his kit is really cool.
I also got Archer so this at least shows some options for him. Certainly not ideal compared to the others but definitely can work.
Kinda surprised that you didn’t use him with SS Silver, since Archer sets up both Cakewalk and Inertia for him. It’d be funny putting Gio’s estranged son next to someone who idolizes Giovanni
This video's really helpful in me understanding the new Sprint mechanic and Archer in general as I skipped on getting Nemona. I wanted Ariana so badly but I got stuck with the one I didn't even want. I'd try to pull her in the Rocket Scout but Red has been shafting me hard so I don't think I'll have much to spare to try my luck there.
Archer gang lessgo! Honestly, Archer was the favorite for me, and I'm glad I got him. I'm not investing candies most likely, but his grid at 3/5 really helps him. Still, he fills a niche that I really don't have, which is sync acceleration.
I do really like Houndoom (EX'd my Karen as soon as I could), but I can't bring myself to invest any resources into this one b/c I just don't like the trainer enough. If this kit came w/ a Flint alt, I'd prob be totally on board, lol. Or maybe if they changed Archer's hair color to orange in the EX outfit to match Houndoom's snout…
Otherwise, I don't even understand why they kept pairing him up w/ Houndoom in the first place until LGPE (when gen 2 and later mons ceased to exist). Wouldn't some Water- or Ice-type like Tentacruel or 2nd Sneasel (keeping it gen 2) fit his teal hair better once they color-coded the admins? If it was Tenta, it could still keep its 2 bar speed buffing attack as Rapid Spin and its 2 bar flinch attack as Waterfall, and if it was 2nd Sneasel, it could potentially bring both Ice and Johto theme skills to an SS Silver team (on top of the countdown synergy and Inertia+Cakewalk synergy). Oh well.
Currently for SS Silver btw, he seems to function pretty much the same way as Irida, but w/o Ice Zone and Hail (and Ice theme skills). In exchange, his Spe debuffs can become up to thrice as good as Irida's w/ Trip Up 9 + Trip Wire 2 at 3/5 (more like SS Diantha, actually the countdown is like SS Diantha's as well). In that case, SS Silver can just use one of each his trainer buttons instead of X Speed+>regular Axle>2nd X Speed+, and Aaron doesn't need to reset for his tm, which is great. Trading the Ice Zone/Hail for a more guaranteed clear (b/c no MPR rng).
As much as I didn’t want Archer, he’s definitely got a fun playstyle with some unique niches that separate him from his Dark-Type brethern who massively favor debuffing anything but Speed.
I wanted either him or Proton got Proton so happy.
I got Petrel. Him and Ariana were the ones I wanted the most, would’ve also liked Proton but at least I didn’t get Archer
