I was hyped for this game until I played the demo. One hour into the demo and the plot is all over the place with very amateurish dialogue. Performance is poor and saw lots of bugs that are similar to those in Pokémon.
Could they not have used DQ XI as a base for the game? World of difference in quality.
I played the demo for an hour and the performance was fine. It runs better than Pokemon Scarlet/Violet. Only once in the hour did I see the Switch trademark “distant models render at half or less frames”. That, again, was way more noticeable in Scarlet/Violet and Shin Megami Tensei V.
The story starts fine and gets disjointed within an hour. Definitely the low point of the game. However, I don’t recall DQM1’s story being anything memorable, either.
Look, I just want to be Terry again, waking up in Big Tree, befriending all manner of monsters, and making my slimes get jiggy with it until I have gold slimes and maybe a death more. Down with DeadTree!
I thought it was charming. Graphics are not great, performance is not great, but the nostalgia for me is so high…that music from the old dqm games.
The real question is if the game will end up following suite with its predecessors. I can tell a lot of people making comments don’t know the series, but this is a series with a lot of fun and depth. Honestly DQM2 and the joker games are really really good and probably some of the better monster raising games in the genre.
