I think your best time to get one is between events, if the event spawns don’t include any Ditto disguise Mons – the upcoming Psychic spectacular for example doesn’t have any. All you can do it just keep catching, prioritising anything that’s potentially a Ditto.
Make sure you are catching all versions of the disguise Pokémon that Ditto is *currently* using. See https://leekduck.com/FindDitto/
If a disguise Pokémon seems a little harder to catch than normal, it may be a Ditto. Use Golden Razz and Ultra Balls.
I play every day; I catch everything I see. I find a Ditto about every other month or so.

I’m personally stuck on the one where I need to evolve a Magnemite; I have the candies to do so, there’s just apparently no Magnemite at all in the state of Ohio this summer….

I caught 2 dittos in the last month. Just lucky I guess. Haven’t seen an exeggcute in about that long, and now need 5 of those. It’s always something.

I catch them accidentally all the time. people who arent able to catch them either arent checking enough mons or just live in a dogshit area for pogo

It’s not random like shinys.
Bf caught a Rogenrola that turned out to be Ditto and I caught the same Rogenrola/Ditto afterward.
2 days later, I caught a Ditto disguised as Litleo and told him to catch it, and it was a Ditto for both of us.

I’ve personally completed it long time ago but in what it takes to Dittos I either get like 1 or 2 in the same day or weeks to months will pass in which I get nothing

I have well over 1000 starly candy and 300+ of all other disguise candies… no luck, they’re all gone. then, my friend gets 2 in 1 day
