Grandpoo bear seems so much faster at F-Zero, and I don’t get why. What is his speed secret?

Even when I have the perfect start with Blue Falco, I become like 30th place before I even reach the main race track.

One thing I notice, he’s spamming Spin, even when he doesn’t have Spin. Is this the secret?

When you KO someone else your power bar recovers and gets larger, so you may want to get into that.

EDIT: He’s not even that good tbh, he makes a lot of mistakes, especially when turning

No, that’s just so they spin as soon as it’s available.

The answer is to change car to one of the three better ones, I don’t use this one so all I can tell you is to take good racing lines, don’t use the break or drift unless you’re going to die and remember to watch the orange arrows.

    For the other three:

Wild goose: use a boost or two in the first lap to get to a comfortable 20th to 30th place and stay there without using any more boosts, instantly use super boosts until lap 3 and 4 where you save them, you then go all out in a final push.

Golden fox: take a good racing line, if you need to slow down for a corner, boost to build speed back up, you can boost a lot each lap with this thing. Even if you don’t need to stop accelerating you should probably boost. It’s good on simple tracks since it has enough energy to boost out of every corner, but in more complex tracks the stingray probably overtakes it, and kills this thing (because you use all the energy boosting you’re an easier target).

Fire Stingray: you don’t need to slow down for the vast majority of corners, even when you do slow down you just change from holding accelerate to mashing accelerate. You can take very clean lines with this thing. Boost is primarily for getting back up to full speed after a mistake, since the acceleration on this thing isn’t good.

Obviously there’s more advanced stuff like timing super boosts so they run out while you’re on a long corner since it won’t eject you, and stuff I don’t know as well, but that’s a quick overview I think.

Also, the bit before the main track basically means nothing, if you’re not a golden fox you get overtaken by one, and with the stingray all you need is to be not be attacked and have a good spot for a starting boost, and the goose wants to be in the carnage.
