Oh man, the demo of the game was a huge dissapointment performance-wise. The pop-in and framerate in the open field is painful to look at, it almost feels like this game is being rushed out of the door (Is it just me? Or do the graphics look better here than in the demo?). The gameplay and synthetize system is as strong as in the previous games though.
About the trailer.
>!How is young Psaro meeting the full DQIV party? That doesn’t make any sense chronologically?!<
This series is real guilty pleasure for me. Every one of them looks like complete ass, has insultingly repetitive gameplay, and presents a story that feels like it was written using mad libs. In spite of that the monster synthesising system is so dang addictive that I end up pouring God knows how long into each one.
Once you get past the fact the monsters and areas are very low poly, you might just notice how fantastic the art direction is.
I was kinda grossed out by the original trailer of this game. After I gave the demo a chance… I realized the visuals just work. I assume the low poly models/ low res textures were done on purpose for technical reasons. Like, if the game uses ram to hold all monsters (would make sense) devs would have to make sure all of the monsters visuals would fit within the ram on the switch.
I think people are being a bit nit picky. But I also get it. I prefer detailed models/textures because I enjoy modeling in 3d. And typically nowadays, games should be adding more polygons and higher res textures. But, this is the switch. It’s just hard.
The DQM series on The DS was pretty good! pumped for this
