Why is my Medicham’s max cp only 1372?

I know this is complete newb sh** and I’m sorry. I have really tried to Google this for weeks and can’t find the information I need. I don’t understand why my Medicham can only be powered up to 1372 when Medicham’s max cp in the game is 1500. Can someone please explain this to me and what I have to do to get a Medicham at least in the high 1400s? Thank you!

Guessing you’re not at the level to unlock XL candy which is 31 I think now

What level is your profile? The max CP of a Pokémon is determined by your level and whether or not they’re equipped as your Best Buddy

A 1500CP Medicham is an XL Pokemon, an judging by your photo, you don’t have access to XL candies yet. You’ll get that are Level 32 I believe.

Also the max CP of a perfect Medicham is more than 1500. To get the best stats within the Great League cap you are looking for one with 5/15/15 IVs (or as close to that) as the best one to invest in.

I just want to know why it’s so expensive to level up?! Got heaps of 95-99% PvP ivs but all 350k-515k to get to 1500cp

OK, so: Pokemon have levels too. With every “power up” the pokemon gains 0.5 levels. The pokemon level goes up to 50, **but it can only be 10 levels above your current trainer level.** So if you are level 30, you can only get your pokemon to level 40, which is still 10 levels below “maxed”.
When people say “maxed” it means pokemon level 50. So you need to be trainer level 40+ to be able to have any maxed pokemon.

Also since I saw you asking about XL Candies – The powerups from pokemon level 40 to 50 have to be done using stardust and XL candies, rather than stardust and normal candies. Since you need trainer level 31 to powerup pokemon past level 40 anyways, all the XL Candy content doesn’t show up in-game until you reach trainer level 31, so you’re about to get it.

Getting XL candies is harder than normal candies, so those last 20 powerups (from pokemon level 40 to 50) are hard to do. You will sometimes get 1-3 XL candies when catching a wild pokemon, but often get 0. You can also convert normal candies to XL candies but it’s 100:1 ratio. Once you reach level 31, when you click on any pokemon from your storage bag, it will show you [how many XL candies you have in a separate category](https://images.imyfone.com/en/assets/article/change-location/Getting-XL-Candy-for-your-Pokemon.png) from the normal candies.

You can power up your mon to +10 of your trainer level at most. Medicham needs to be level 50 to be maxed out, so you need to wait to be trainer level 40.

  8. While Pokemon levels aren’t really shown in PoGo, they are equivalent to two power ups.

The Pokemon level cap in PoGo – and, coincidentally, player level cap too – is level 50. This means that Pokemon can be powered up approximately 100 times from zero to max.

There are a few caveats to this though.

The first is that Pokemon are restricted to being a maximum of 10 levels higher than the player. So if you’re only Lv.21 on your account, Pokemon can only be powered up to level 31.

The second is that, starting with trainer level 31, a new type of candy called “XL Candy” has a chance of dropping on catch and is used in place of normal candy from Pokemon levels 41 to 50.

For Medicham specifically, its stats are low enough that it can’t hit the 1500 CP cap for great league until it is within the “XL level band” of Pokemon levels 41 to 50. So to get your Medicham to the Great League cap, you’ll have to increase your Pokemon level cap by raising your trainer level. You’ll also need to earn the necessary XL candy to finish off the final few levels.

google IVs (individual values) in pokémon go and watch some youtube videos breaking it down

  10. Imaginary-Tourist-20

Ok he’s not a high level but Medicham is still underpowered

  11. Hoodlum_Aus

Prob already mentioned, but you can level a pokemon 10 levels higher than your players’ level. The Max is 50, so at player level 40, you can start maxxing mons.

Level 31: You start getting XL candies, which take over from normal candies when levelling a Mon from 40-50.

Mega pokemon can assist with acquiring XLs a lot, so maybe look into them and start collecting mega candy when available.

    All the best.

Aww dude, don’t apologize! I got lots of questions, so for people like you asking them I get my own answers faster lol! Keep the questions coming👍

If you pokemon’s IV is lower than 100% you won’t ever hit the highest potential CP. You probably also need to unlock XL candy which is basically the next candy tier to level a pokemon from 40 -> 50.

    1) The higher your Trainer lvl is, the higher you can upgrade your pokemon. You can only power up a pokemon to the level of your trainer profile + 10 which means lvl 50 pokemon are only possible with a lvl 40 account.
    2) After your account reaches lvl 31 you unlock xl candy. These are used to power up a pokemon from lvl 40 to lvl 50. you can get xl candy by catching pokemon.
    3) if you get a pokemon to best buddy it gets one additional level, however only if you have the pokemon equipped as buddy.
    4) the max cp of your pokemon depends on its stats. To reach the highest possible cp you need a 100% best buddy pokemon
    Hope this helps

U are low level if u have higher trainer level u can power up him more

  16. stripperliterature

Cheap pokemon af no shame in saying

  17. MissAmiss72

The real problem with medicham is how MUCH STUFF it uses…each individual level is tiny and to get my 788 medicham to 1496 it’s
    248 candy 165xl candy and 376,000 stardust
    Sheesh

  18. When you appraise a Poke it details its stats, the higher the stats the higher its CP can be. Additionally, mega candy lets you raise it higher. Additionally on top of that, Medichams actual stats are pretty mid in the mainline games. Its ability is what makes it viable which doesn’t exist in PoGo.

  19. Timelymanner

Pokémon CP are based on the stats from the main game series.

    CP: CP = (Attack * Defense^0.5 * Stamina^0.5 * CP_Multiplier^2) / 10

Then depending on the Pokémon’s individual IV’s and level it will fit between a high and low range.

  20. liangjunnn

But srsly tho, why is its max cp only at 1618

  21. Salt-Coach-9799

so bro wsup you havent reached lvl 40+ it seems, 1500cp is the lvl 50 cp which you currently have no acces too. When you get at lvl 40 you can start gegting candy xl which you need to get your mon above lvl40 (which is 1372cp for your medicham) note that max cp can also vary based on the iv percent of your pokemon. If you ever have any problem w pogo you can always send me a dm. Have a nice day

  22. Haunted_pines

It is also dependent on your level you are in the game. I have leveled up a couple times after maxing my Venaspur and I can max him again

  23. TheAnonymousGamer2

Bro hasn’t gotten xls yet (xl candys

  24. Statistician_Waste

If no one else said it clearly yet, the max level you can power a pokemon up to has a correlation of ‘like’ plus 5 to your actual trainer level

  25. APEX_REAP3RZ

I’m gonna guess it’s because of low level?

  26. A hundo Medicham maxes out to 1618 at level 50. How much you can power up depends on your trainer level too…so as you level up you can increase the cp.

  27. is my 93 medicham worth investing in? What is its use case, thanks

  28. H4ndsKetchum

Also check it’s IVs, that rating your trainer gives its stats will be important if you want certain CP range ha

  29. blue-chicken-nugget

Because your not lvl 38 and your one has bad ivs
