Oh cool, I didn’t realize this was out already. Still haven’t finished the first game though.

Wish they had toned down the difficulty in this one. I dropped the 1st game because I wasted an hour or two redoing a mission after losing near the end.
WorldCupBro
Better than advance wars that’s for sure.

Did they increase the font size? The small text prevented me from playing the last one

I just want the exact same game as before but with better designed missions. Imo even early on they just threw a shitload of units at you constantly and made every mission feel like a slog.

So, commander units are still completely unbalanced and the game is still super punishing? Sounds like they didn’t learn any lessons from the last game.

The first Wargroove had the most obnoxious dialogue, story and characters. This one looks to be the same.
Nintendo Life gives every game 9/10.

Lots of complaining about difficulty here, considering the OG game had completely customizable difficulty options. Idk my only issue was with getting max ranks on some of the stages, it often came down to manipulating the enemy commander AI in occasionally-obtuse ways.

I know it’s my own fault but I got hyped for the 1st game and bought it – ended up very disappointed.
Maybe I’m too dumb but the fights became stale very fast. I almost got overwhelmed, slowly fought back, then I just produced endless units and walked them very very slowly across the map. Every. Damn. Mission.
I also don’t like how there are no upgrades etc but again, that’s my fault for expecting it if the game never promised anything like that.
Still I’d love a 2D game with this design to still give you the option for progression, unlocking units etc. Not as deep as Fire Emblem but at least *something*. Am I alone with that?

They should never hire whoever made the character designs again. Seriously some of the worst I’ve ever seen
ConoRiot
Soooo, do all armies play exactly the same?
If so, pass and I’ll just play Reboot.

I played through probably half of the first game and then suddenly felt like there was a difficulty spike I couldn’t get over. As someone who was new to tactics games at the time, I stopped playing. Curious to see more reviews on the second one.
IGofastEatass
Does it have actual missions and class progression with branching trees yet?

Wow, this came out of nowhere. I know they announced kinda recently but i assumed this was a next year game. Loved the first game, very keen for this

Good explaination of how the combat will work in the game for newcomers to the genre. It kind of bothers me they refer to it as an SRPG though. Might be because of how rare these arcady strategy games are. By that I mean games that are all about managing funds and moving the right units into the right spots, but without letting you take rewards into the next stage.
Personally, I refer to these as ‘tactics’ games to distinguish them from larger (4X) strategy games where individual skirmishes are less important than managing incomes, tech/skill trees and expenses.
It will be interesting to see how well the roguelike mode holds up. I love playing Wildfrost so I’m excited.
