Wow! Congrats to him! Very big shoes to fill but from what I’ve heard so far he seems to be doing a great job. I’m interested to see how his portrayal will evolve over time like Charles’ did.

  2. videobob123

Cool! It will be interesting to see if they stick with him, or jump between some options for a while.

The fact that I couldn’t tell it wasn’t Charles until Nintendo confirmed it wasn’t Charles shows how great Kevin is. Can’t wait to see how his new role evolves in the future!

    So we get Ask-Me-For-Directions Arnold

  5. Scapetti

Funny how things seem obvious after the fact. Like OF COURSE the new voice would also be the voice of the flowers. The idea of the talking flowers probably came from the audition!

An Afghani voicing an Italian named after an American created by a Japanese

  7. Mario is Nintendo’s’ mascot and an icon of video games as a whole; must be surreal and unbelievably exciting to be given the opportunity to play him as a relative newcomer to the VA scene. (Oh, and Luigi too I guess)

Obviously Kevin is not Charles Martinet and it will take a while to get used to his take but I’m really happy for him!

  8. Riomegon

Based on everything we’ve seen from the game so far he’s doing an admirable job. There’s literally zero issues here, Charles wanted to go and he had the right to.

Kevin did an absolutely great job from what I’ve heard so far, but I’m also curious how he got the role. His resume doesn’t seem extremely extensive, and I feel like it would have leaked if Nintendo were replacing Charles and having open auditions, right?

  10. MarcsterS

Is there an actual confirmation from Nintendo?

  11. Elastichedgehog

It must be very surreal to be the one to voice Mario after Martinet.

  12. Death_from_farting

That’s good, I was concerned they might be going with AI voices.

  13. owenturnbull

Welcome. Can’t wait to experience the game with him as the new voice

  14. GladLocal9766

Huh. I thought it was Mick Wingert.

Edit: oh it was debunked. Got it.

  15. alxaaa1995

I feel like everything he does with Mario & Luigi sound almost identical to Charles Martinet. It’s only when Mario says “Wonderful” that you can hear, it’s not him. Luigi is spot on though

  16. Super_Craig02

Going by trailers alone, he’s definitely the right choice when it comes to being Charles Martinet’s successor. He sounds almost exactly like Charles when it comes to Mario and Luigi.

Welcome to the Mushroom Kingdom, Kevin Afghani. Looking forward to your performance in Wonder and many future games. Can’t wait to see his take on Waluigi and many others.

  17. RandomRedditor44

…why didn’t they reveal this during the Mario Wonder direct?

A lot of people seem to care but I don’t care at all I just want Mario to jump on the little turtle things and get coins as long as he can always do that I’ll be happy

  19. HereComesInspiration

Must’ve had an NDA not to announce his involvement until a week before the release.

  20. bcorliss9

Saw when this broke he was at 670 followers. 10k now. Crazy. Enjoy it bud

  21. NobleYato

He should be proud. Once you get to say you voiced Mr Videogame AND Luigi, you absolutely deserve to ride that high.

  22. AnglsBeats

This is so weird to see…a real end of an era. I didn’t think Wonder was gonna be a different voice. I thought maybe Charles would have it as his last hurrah. This kinda stings more because Chris Pratt took the theatrical roll away too. I’m indifferent

  23. tankhwarrior

    Who?

Looking at his previous work it looks to me at least like Nintendo just wanted to trade Charles Martinet for a muuuuuch cheaper replacement

  24. ParanoidDrone

I have no idea who he is but given that he’s the new voice of Mario it’s probably only a matter of time until his name’s as well-known as Martinet’s.

  25. Next_Breadfruit7730

Hmh, he says he voiced Mario and Luigi in Mario Bros Wonder, but not that he is the new voice for Mario and Luigi. I wonder if Nintendo is seeing how people react to his new voice before deciding to keep him on a more permanent role. Eh, who knows I just want a Mario voice that’s good and consistent and he does a decent job of that in Wonder.

  26. CanvasWolfDoll

thank goodness nintendo didn’t turn to ai

  27. FixPsychological2787

Didn’t really invite you, you just kinda walked in, but okay
