Nickelodeon All Star Brawl 2 physical was changed to a code in the box quietly

I preordered All Star Brawl 2 along with a lot of other pre-orders while BestBuy’s Buy 2 Get 1 Switch deal was still going on. [I saw some news that said the game was changing to code in the Box.](https://nintendoeverything.com/nickelodeon-all-star-brawl-2-delay-physical-release-download-code/)

[Bestbuy](https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nickelodeon-all-star-brawl-2-code-in-box-nintendo-switch/6553314.p?skuId=6553314) and [Gamestop](https://www.gamestop.com/video-games/products/nickelodeon-all-star-brawl-2-code-in-box–nintendo-switch/398374.html) updated their box art. [Target](https://www.target.com/p/nickelodeon-all-star-brawl-2-nintendo-switch/-/A-89620102) and [Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/Nickelodeon-All-Star-Brawl-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B0CDB26V3G/) have not yet so you can see it originally didn’t say code in a box. I got no notice from BestBuy about the change. I don’t blame BestBuy because all they saw was a box art change from the publisher. The publisher didn’t change anything else, so it’s the same game as far as BestBuy sees.

I just think it’s a pretty crappy practice to make a change like this and not tell people. It’s extra crappy for me because it will mess up my B2G1 to cancel.

Did that with just dance ’23, bought it anyway, we barley play it. Definitely regret it. I should have stuck with my gut and said no, but oh well.

maybe reach out to best buy and ask if you can get an exchange?

Yeah I just heard about this yesterday. Had to cancel my pre-order at GameStop, will be getting it digitally for Steam Deck instead.

This seems most common with switch games, it’s most likely because cartridges cost more to make than blu-ray discs

It’s wild to me to even see that there’s a sequel, because my head cannon is that the first one released less than a year ago and flopped hard. I guess I was wrong, but it’s so weird to see.

  6. I suspect the game didn’t sell well because it was release half baked. Releasing a version 2 is _kinda_dick move _if_ the game is not far superior.

From the first images, I suspect it’s not.

But this is even more tragic as the box changed quietly for a lower interest and is seriously horrible.

  7. > GameMill has confirmed to Nintendo Everything that the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 Switch physical release will be a download code.

It’s not really “quietly” if they tell gaming journalists who post about it lol. they’ve also changed the box art to make it VERY clear. It’s not their fault Target and Amazon have not updated their art.

AND physical just got delayed until AFTER black friday while digital is ready pre-BF.
Gee i can’t imagine why they’d delay “physical” until after the time of year that sellers offer especially deep discounts on games that don’t sell very well…

Then there’s no point. I buy physical out of paranoia that one day the online stores will shut down, not to have a pretty box.

I didn’t realize the first brawl game was already released

And yet they went through the trouble of releasing the original game a second time with all dlc attached…. 🙄 (directing this at the people using the “carts are more expensive to produce argument)

I never thought about it before, but buying games digitally is better. Buying a pseudo-physical release like this defeats the purpose. What are you gonna do with the case after you download the game? Use it as a paperweight?

  13. Why even bother having a physical box? Unless greedy corpos just want an extra dough for manufacturing and distribution. Scumbags.

Well that’s what you get for pre-ordering shit.

People want the choice of physical! I hate this trend

We should start an anti-preorder movement /s
