Not bad at all. Seems like this will be a fantastic Mario game but not one that truly innovates like Odyssey or Galaxy.
Also to this day I’m amazed Yakuza 5 got 40/40 lol.

Edit: That must’ve been one downvote per minute, you guys are on a roll! With that being said, let’s have this conversation again 2 weeks after the game released when all the thin rosy veils dropped and people started to realize how mid of a game this has been 😉

Game is incredible but two of six worlds don’t have castles and every boss is a bowser jr fight

Been playing for the past couple days and it’s fun. Some levels feel super short, which is nice to pick up and play. Some of the challenge levels are legit challenging, but in an annoying way, which sucks. But still fun.
I haven’t unlocked all the new powers, I don’t think, but Bubble is probably my favorite so far. It’s really cool. The badges are cool, but I don’t find myself switching them out unless it’s for very specific coins or if it’s like an underwater level. I’ve been using the ! block badge since the start of the game and rarely switch out. It’s a neat gimmick, but hopefully some of the later badges are more useful.
The level gimmicks and Wonder Flower segments are super cool though. 1-2 was where i was like “Oh okay this is fun as hell”

I’m sure they innovated the hell out of the 2D Mario formula. It’s a shame I just don’t understand what about that gameplay loop is enjoyable.

Knowing how great this game is, I’m kinda disgusted by that score. This game is why perfect scores exist, it’s so very good

So basically a 90/100 on a 100 point scale (or 9/10 on a 10 point scale). The game is extremely easy. There really is very little challenge to it at all. Its amusing and cute but its nothing spectacular or earth shaking.

It’s the most creative 2D Mario has been since SMB3. It made me grin like a dingus over and over again. It oozes charm at every single second, and is the successor to SMB3 and World we never got (sorry New Sup, you generic black sheep).
