Slaking, contrary to what others have said, is not a good gym defender. It is actually quite the opposite of that.
It’s fast move will deal only 1 HP of damage per hit, its charge moves rarely activate before you can knock it out, otherwise, it’s stupidly easy to dodge if you care to dodge.
Me and some of my friends on other teams keep a Slaking around so if a new gym pops up and we want to get it gold in a short period of time, we can sit there and win trade on our Slaking, as we can easily take it down many times without ever using a potion, but since the CP is high we get around 175+ points per swap. If anything, seeing Slaking motivates me to take any gym I’m not gold in, because it’s free points.
So a few hours of going back and forth with this while catching up, and we can both get an easy gold gym.
Honestly, for battle in PvP or PvE, neither is great. But they’re cool trophies to say you have 2 perfect Pokémon, and not everyone needs to play or value the game the same.
Even if someone else thinks or says it’s the most useless Pokémon, if it brings you joy, then it is great.
This is a game, try to have fun and enjoy yourself.

I want him cause 100% slaking is, at least for now, the only Pokemon in the game that cracks the 5000cp mark without the use of a best buddy boost or mega evolution… and it needs to be 100%… not 96, not 98. ONE HUNDRED

I have a lvl 50 shundo best friend Slaking that is just there to see the biggest number possible. I weirdly have a second hundo slaking that In slowly maxing as well around lvl 42 I think. Completely useless but big number makes me happy

Before thinking about investing, get enough candy for your sloth.
A 4* slaking is a nice flex, but I don’t think the difference in IV matters much when defending an arena.

The thing i heard about Slaking for gyms is that you want it under 2300cp for motivation purposes. For Flygon, sorry. Not that useful in GBL or Raids bc of the better Grounds out there. If it had Ultra League IVs (0/13/15 or 1/15/15) we’d have something here. Go wit the sloth even tho itll be 2532cp 🙂

In real Pokemon games, yeah. Vigoroth is a nasty opponent. Slaking is slow but packs a punch. Literally.

Slaking is all around terrible, both in PvP and in every single form of PvE
Flygon is bad at PvE and while it’s viable in Ultra League, (not top tier but certainly useable, especially with Earth Power), the IVs are not too great for that either.
