They don’t, no. I think Alolan Meowth is boosted, so a little more likely, but still pretty rare. Nice! I like this shiny a lot.

That pokemon is permaboosted, which means it has a 1/64 shiny chance instead of the normal 1/500 chance. This is definitely still just super good luck though.

No, but alolan meowth has a boosted 1/64 shiny rate, so the odds that both of your’s was shiny is 1/4096, coincidentally the same odds of finding one full-odds shiny in a main series game (past gen 6)

Same thing happened to me and my gf. We were making dinner one night and I tapped on a jigglypuff, it was shiny. She had her pogo on as well. I said “wouldn’t it be funny if I got you one” and tapped on the same one and boom shiny. I didn’t know what to think since 1, only IVs are linked not shinies, and 2 the odds are 1:500 … so I guess I just killed my RNG for life .

Shinies are determined at spawn with some type of unknown player ID matching system. I’ve been wondering whether it’s possible for two player IDs to consistently get the same shiny spawns. Has this ever happened to you two before?

Happened to me and my sister with a shiny lickitung, out of curiosity were the stats the same? Me and my sister had same stats too.

This happened to my bff and I at work. But later hers disappeared :/ it was a gible community day a couple years ago I think. We caught them simultaneously, same stats and everything, but when she checked later that day when we were on break, it was gone.

Just lucky. My girls and myself once got a shiny off the same mon during an event. Three shinies, crazy odds! That same day two of us did it again.

There was this one case here on the PoGo subreddit, where three or four people got the same Oranguru with identical CP and stats at the exact same moment (they were playing together). During that time people were talking about spawn seeds which are shared after a player reaches a certain level.
If you got the same exact mon, I think that might be a similar case.

I have found from experience that they do and monster stats do as well. When me and my brother and sister in law all go out together if one finds a shiny then we all do and then we all find the same stat monsters in the area. Have found this happening many dozen times

They don’t sync however, anecdotally, one POS spoofer on discord was asking for people to report location on shinies they catch because he found that the specific spawn has higher chance to be a shiny.
It’s anecdotal evidence but honestly I take that the POS spoofer does have a higher authority there than people who can’t teleport and test it.

I had shundo of this run away from me last night bc of the go ++ lmfaooo only way I knew is bc my gf pointed out it was a hundo and then I checked my journal…

I found one shiny, sub 20IV and almost maxed out. I caught a perfect one but its like level 2. Luckily it’s cheap ish to level. Now I wish I could merge and average.. Lol

Have done this several times with my wife. We have concluded that it occurs when selecting the same Pokémon at the same time. It’s still the same shiny chances, but if she gets it then so do I and vice versa.
