Is there a review that doesn’t spoil too much and talks about gameplay and level design?

I almost beat the entire game on the first day… made it like a quarter of the way through world 8, but I got real sleepy around 4:00 am

  3. JagsAbroad

This game is Rayman Legends with a Mario twist

Why can’t you invite people to play though?

I know they said “subtle connection” about the online play but why not make it work with NSO? Why can’t you invite friends in any way?

Played two worlds with my wife and I found myself laughing silly. That’s good enough for me.

Love the tighter controls too. The new super mario saga had started to wear me off because of the momentum controls.

… does that even mean much though, since everything ever under the sun gets called “mAsTeRpIeCe” and “LeGeNdAry”?

When everything these days gets called any of the above, or iconic, or whatever, it loses most of its meaning.

  7. Yaaaa this game is good, so good.

Like I keep reaching for that Switch to play one more…

What’s putting me off buying this is that the side-scrolling Super-Mario-Bros formula has been done a lot, to the point where it feels sorta stale. So what makes this game any different?? Is it because the style, creative ideas, animations, intuitiveness is just way better now?

I know this is a silly question but is the gameplay still ‘skiddy’? Like on ice.

I don’t like 2D Mario games for that reason.

I can’t put my finger on it but I’m getting Donkey Kong Country flashbacks when I play this. Great game.

It’s good, but I think calling it a masterpiece is overstating things slightly!

So far I just think it’s a good fun Mario game. Not really a masterpiece, but I’ve been playing these games for decades and it’s a comfortable, familiar, yet fresh take on the series. I was very excited for it to come out and I was not disappointed!

Other than Mario Kart, this is the first Mario game I’ve played. I’m not a fan of platformers whatsoever, but this game is brilliant fun and ridiculously charming.

Such a good game. When the first musical score started I was hooked.

  15. The 5-star difficult levels are nuts, oh my

As much as I like this game and MVG, I rolled my eyes when he said he had played a few hours and was ready to call it a masterpiece. Clickbait

I concur, this is a Top 5 Mario game of all time in my opinions:

    1. Super Mario World
    2. Super Mario Wonder
    3. Super Mario 3
    4. Super Mario Odyssey
    5. Super Mario Galaxy
