Lets be honest, initial hype was always going to be unbeatable, but Niantic have been straight up incompetent for 5 years and traded gameplay mechanics for data collection. Don’t forget that Niantic are not a gaming company, they’re an augmented reality company that want location data and use Pokémon as a skin for that purpose.
If they cared about gameplay, the game would be much much more popular, but instead we get ‘party mode’ 5 years after release. A route system that doesn’t even work, and a PVP system that’s so contrived to understand that most people gave up on it immediately.
