I’d never played the series before falling in love with the first one this summer. SwitchUp is usually on the mark with their reviews so I’m definitely hyped for this one.

Not sure if I have the energy for another 40+ hour RPG, but will keep an eye out for a sale next year for it.

  3. Heard it needs a big download to be played, is physical pointless yet again?

  4. DoombotBL

Star Ocean 2 still holds up baybee

I can’t wait to finally beat it. I for some ungodly reason stopped playing when I got to last boss and never went back to finish.

  5. I’ll just say this, try the DEMO if you’re unsure about it.

Graphics and presentation looks superb but I coudn’t really get into the battle system unfortunately, I’ll maybe give it another chance when I finish some of my backlog

I played the HELL put of this in middle school/high school.

    I’m ready to go back.

    Ashton, I’m coming my boy!

Has anyone gotten a date when physical copies are shipping? I’ve had this preordered on Amazon for a while now and it still says “We will email you when we have an estimated delivery date.”

  8. I played this game so many times during my summers off in elementary school- can’t wait to start again

  9. Is this game connected to the first one at all, or is it standalone? I’m not too familiar with either but wanted to give the series a shot.

Man, this looks good! And I played the original when it came out for, like 4 hours and always wanted to give it another shot. But I have sooooo many story focussed games I really want to play. Also there are so many books on my night stand.

It’s easy to find time for stuff like Mario Wonder, Shantae or Ender Lilies, but games like Star Ocean, Disco Elysium or House of Fata Morgana are always such a commitment.

The original is one of my top 3 PS1 games. This looks like a fantastic remake (really, I wish they’d done this for other games from the same era (FF8+9, legend of dragoon, etc) and I would *kill* for a FF6 or Chrono Trigger remake in the same fashion.

If you haven’t picked up the demo, do it. You get a lot of playtime, and your save carries over to the full game. And it’s *beautiful*

I’m looking forward to playing this. I wasn’t super impressed by Sea of Stars, so my JRPG itch has yet to be scratched for 2023

Do they discuss performance on the Switch in their review? I’m trying to figure out which console I want to buy this for.

  14. Got my copy delivered on Monday and can’t put it down (outside of work). Such an amazing game.

    > 87 different endings

    Well then…

  16. Have they fixed the awful pop-in from the demo? I wanted to get it for switch, but the pop-in has been too distracting

  17. This is the first game I really got into the crafting system. Something about a kick ass pair of gloves?

  18. mick_spadaro

Three cheers for SwitchUp, such a good channel.

  19. Is the easy mode really easy? I suck at these kinda games but I love the art style

I played it last night!…….for 5 minutes and then deleted it gah!
