Rumors of switch 2 hit hard I guess

  2. HistoryWillRepeat

Excellent. This is what we we need to see before we see a Switch 2.

  3. Locke_VI

Most people who care about the Switch already own one by now

  4. Makes sense. It’s been out for a while now. The general public has mostly moved on.

  5. alaska2ohio

It’s as if people have less disposable income, and like others have mentioned the Switch is more saturated than ever.

  6. bisforbenis

This is pretty much expected during this time in a consoles lifespan

So many clueless people in this comment section. Do yall read the actual articles or think before you post?

This has literally nothing to do with game output or the state of the world or a “saturated” market.

Literally anyone who wants a switch has one. Theyve hit the limit. There are very few people who want one that will buy one at this point

  8. Prayer_Police

It’s wild that the Switch hasn’t gotten a price drop yet

  9. ilovecokeslurpees

Yeah because they’ve sold almost 140 million of them worldwide and it’s almost been 7 years. If it didn’t drop, I would’ve been shocked.

I mean we haven’t hit the end of the year yet with the holiday push so I’m curious to see how those numbers change after the holidays (with Wonder and Mario RPG remake and things).

  11. Grave_Knight

Not a lot of people are willing to buy the same console twice.

  12. jgreg728

Switch and Nintendo are doomed. DOOOOOOMED

  13. psyskeptic

Still on track in year 7 to outperform year 1, 2, and 3 on the market.

  14. nichijouuuu

Most would-be owners have become owners. The remaining are speculating on a “Switch 2” and postponing their purchase.

The Switch has sold 10 million units in the first 3 quarters of this year. The Switch will probably sell 5-7 million units in the last quarter. Worst case scenario: 15 million units sold this year. Best case scenario: 17 million units sold this year. The Switch is still going strong.

  16. Lucky-Mia

With news of a switch 2 probably releasing next year the value proposition of a switch this year is down.

I have my brown joycon Switch in my bathroom, dedicated for toilet gaming.

I have my other Switch for non toilet gaming.

Edit: I’ve just discovered that there are no brown joycons. Mother of God.

  18. WanderEir

THAT’S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOUR CONSOLE IS ALREADY OMNIPRESENT.

  19. staroceanx

Nintendo US: “the rumors are not true, Nintendo switch 2 is not coming. It will never come. Nintendo switch is the last console we will ever make”.

  20. MistStepThrowTrap

    Everyone who wants one…

    …already has 3.

Ninty needs to simply man up and pop for some processors that only date back to the aughts, slap a new brand name on what is in practice going to be the Switch 2 so as not to confuse Boomer Grandmas, and be done with it for another 1.5 actual console generations.

  21. cross_bearer_02

Very simple, and it’s a combination of two things.

The first and most obvious is that the Switch is now entering its eighth year on the market. It’s a fair assumption to make that anyone who doesn’t already own a Switch at this point likely just hasn’t had a desire to get one, whether that’s due to them not really being that much of a gamer, or just simply preferring other platforms.

The second is the economy in general. Anytime you have a downturn where people are having to pick between entertainment and putting bread on the table, the choice is always the groceries (or at least it should be for anyone thinking reasonably). That’s always going to affect the entertainment industry across the board (not just gaming but music, movies, etc.)

  22. Nintendo, we’d be a 3 switch household if all 3 switches could play the digital games I bye- on my or my kids account. And without internet connection.

  23. Mint_Pixie

I feel like it’s about time a new console gets released? I feel like no one is trying to buy a Switch right now since everyone who wants one already has had the chance to get it.

On a side note, if there is a new console I wonder what it would be – VR? And what would happen to Smash since the Ultimate felt like the ultimate sendoff for that franchise.

  24. Theoderic8586

Simple: those who want a switch, have a switch already.

  25. stirtheturd

Gee maybe because the crappy joycons are prone to drifting, and have an outrageous cost to replace. Do better scamtendo.

  26. Snoo_92606

Software sales matter more, if software sales are as high or higher than last year, all good.

  27. dominodave

The bulk beings are closing the tesseract.

  28. jardex22

They’re hitting market saturation. Those that are interested in a Switch own at least one Switch system. They released the Lite as an incentive to get a second one, then the OLED as a way to upgrade your original.

  29. Digital_Pharmacist

Nintendo is doing what they always do….try to push more sales after saturating the market.

  30. BollyWood401

Well no shit…. It’s 6 years old and has still sold more than Xbox and PS5 combine. I don’t like the switch at all but it’s extremely successful.

  31. pxldsilz

Its like people don’t like to buy $300 five year old tablets whose games cost $60 a pop.

  32. Maleficent_Trick_502

There’s no new special editions like last year with the zelda decal version.

  33. kpwn9911

Hard to sell consoles when everyone and their mother already owns one lol

  34. Have_A_Jelly_Baby

Yeah, that’s what happens when you sell over 100 million of something. Everyone who wants one has one.
