Pokemon Go

Prepared for trouble…

I hosted two raids today.

The first one went smoothly and had a full group almost immediately.

The second one people were flaking when 3 people were in the lobby. It took me several rounds of invites. Finally one guy stuck around till the boss started, so I just went for it and I still can’t believe we duo-ed it. Just the two of us got him.

I’m just mentioning this in case those that get invited didn’t know. (…and I have seen many people ask about this.)

I have seen a few posts of people asking “why do people leave just 5 seconds after inviting me?” They are getting the invites to refresh so they can send out another round of invites. PLEASE STAY IN THE RAID so they can come back! If you leave they can’t get back into the raid and they have to start from scratch again.

If you stay in the raid the host can leave the raid, wait for the invites to refresh, and then be able to invite another 5 people. If the host can do this three times successfully, you will have the full 20 invited to the raid. (Some people decline the invite or are unaware they have reached their daily limit. Unhelpfully the error message “this person has reached their daily limit” is shown to the host and not the person invited. 🤦‍♀️

The host can only invite five at a time and only do this more than once if they leave the raid wait for the invitations to refresh then rejoin the raid, AND ONLY as long as someone from their first round of invites stays in the raid. So do not leave if the host leaves, they are probably trying to get the next round of invites to refresh.

The host also has to do this before the ready timer runs out so, that is why they leave immediately, because they have to wait for the refresh and come back. In order to do that the full 3 times they have to be very quick. People from each round of invites has to stay in the raid for it to work too.

So, PLEASE, don’t leave raids if they are not full or the host leaves right away. It wastes the host’s time and passes along with anyone else that stays in. Your leaving is what prevents the host from being able to keep ducking in and out to invite more people.

As you can see in the top right picture, there is a cap on how many times you can send invites as a raid host. Usually as a host, if I don’t get a full group on the second round of invites it comes up with that error message and I can’t invite any more.

Also, you can take down raid bosses with less people than indicated as long as you pick the right pokemon. Yes, 4 is the goal here, and more is even better, but we took him down with 2. It can be done. I wasn’t even mega or doing anything fancy, I just used the right pokemon with the right damage type.
