How does it compare to Arkham City Wii U?

I’m confused by the headlines I keep seeing about this. Everyone seems to be saying that Asylum and City run well, and that Knight is the disaster. Maybe they should be more precise about that, because some of us don’t care that much about if Knight runs well. I want to revisit the first two most.

Eventually this will be on sale for $15-20 and I’d personally pay that much for decent ports of the first two games even if the last one is unplayable.

How does Switch struggle with the game from 2009? Bad port? Issues with ue3?

  4. MetaNemesis

I am still hoping they will have a patch for Arkham Knight. Still happy to be able to play these on my Switch and Switch lite.

I’m starting to think this is click bait. Asylum and City run great. Knight has some glitching in the Batmobile but that game had issues on stacked PCs.

What frustrates me the most about this is they had another perfectly fine Arkham game they could’ve ported to switch instead of Knight, a game that had trouble running on some modern hardware at the time.

They could’ve released Arkham Origins instead of Knight and given Switch users a solid collection of games. Instead they get two great games that appear to run alright and one that is a mess.

Asylum runs okay, City runs pretty great. Happy with my purchase 🤷‍♂️

  8. CatBreadFactory

The state of Knight was almost to be expected but I am really stunned at how poor it runs. No excuse for the performance issues in the other two games though

  9. Time to take your “maybe it’ll run better on Switch 2” pill

It’s bad because City runs better on a PS3 than on Switch. Meanwhile we got Bayonetta playing at twice the framerate as on PS3, and even Bayonetta 2 which looked quite good ran a perfect 60fps.

There’s no reason these games run with lower quality, stuttering sound effects and uneven framerates that go both above and below 30fps unless it’s bad code.

I think the developer lost some of its talent or they weren’t prepared to discover that the games run on a heavily customized version of Unreal 3 that Rocksteady made themselves.

The switch hardware is too weak. It is only designed for Nintendo games.

I bought it and Asylum won’t open. I’ve reinstalled multiple times.

I’m definitely tempted to pick this up on sale but given the rock bottom PS4 price it’s hard to justify.

Honestly, I don’t know why they even tried. Arkham knight was an extremely demanding game. I had to lock it to 30fps to get smooth gameplay on my GTX 1050 ti, which is more powerful than the OG PS4, or about 5x more powerful than the Switch. There’s a reason Ubisoft cancelled their port of Steep, another demanding title.

Guess I’m waiting for patches and a sale for this to be fixed. I have 2 perfectly capable PCs that can run all 4 Arkham games on ultra settings while hitting high frame rates.

  16. What’s funny is that, While Arkham Knight runs like actual potato, the gameplay loop has gotten me through 5 hours of game so far.

I’m having a lot of fun! I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody (until maybe a patch or two).

Again. The Switch is slightly better than an Xbox 360 but not as good as a launch Xbox One specs wise. So I’m not surprised a fame designed for the Xbox One plays poorly on the Switch. They literally had to dial it back and make it work for hardware from 3 generations ago.

  18. JayneVeidt

What’s annoying is they’re not available to purchase separately.

Performance on Switch doesn’t seem to catch up with other handheld, I play the same game on the Steam Deck and it was perfect

  20. Boneyking_

RDR got so much hate for being overpriced with a flawless performance while I’m not seeing much reaction from gamers towards this clusterfuck of a port. I am definitely out of touch with this community and don’t understand its standards anymore.

  21. Independent-Cable937

It’s weird that people are hoping for next generation graphics on a handheld console. These complaints are weird

  22. The_Zura

You can’t blame the Switch. It’s doing very well for hardware from 2015, released in 2017, playing a game from… 2015? That can’t be right. Ah well, portability, something something graphics doesn’t matter, performance doesn’t matter, and repeated 3 second lurches don’t matter. Maybe if we stopped huffing copium and start demanding more we might actually get a crumb.

  23. blood_omen

People on here are honestly dumb af. Of course it’s not going to look like a pc or ps5, it’s a goddamn switch! For what it is, it’s awesome. If you want amazing graphics, then get the other consoles and stop shit talking this one for something it’s not made to do.
