I’ve been playing Pokémon go on and off for quite a few years now and I have acquired what I believe to be decent Pokémon.
However I don’t understand, is cp more important or a star rating? I’ve only got two “perfect” and they are a cottonee and diglet.
The above screenshots are my highest rating Pokémon, if they have been tagged they are most likely 3 star as I found tagging more preferred over favouriting.
If someone could explain all the ins and out that would be great!
Thank you

A higher star rating means higher stats, aka more potential. So if you have a Charizard with 2000 CP but 0 stars and a second Charizard with 2000 CO and 4 stars, the 4 star will always have better stats.
Sometimes it’s better to wait until you have a good 3/4 star to invest in a particular Pokémon, rather than wasting stardust and candies on 0-2 star (worse) Pokémon. It’s almost always better to invest in a low CP 3/4 star than a high CP 0-2 star.
Also with shadow Pokémon, they deal much more damage compared to their purified version. Meanwhile, purified Pokémon get a huge boost in CP, gain some extra stats (sometimes gaining more stars), and are easier to level up (less candy/stardust). However, shadow Pokémon are usually better because of the raw damage they deal.
Hope this helps 😀
