I hope we get that, Link can be the physical attacker and Zelda can be the ranged attacker

I mean, I think they leave the door open for most things. They’re unlikely to say “I can definitively say we will never do that” to just about anything

I thought it was gonna happen in TOTK especially when the trailer showed them both exploring together. Was a bit disappointed when she vanished again at the start of the game. Would be really cool to see it in the third game.

They could have easily done that in tears, like when you view the tears like it’s not that hard

Whatever they do, I first and foremost hope a Tears of the Kingdom 60fps re-release on Super Switch/Switch 2 is around the corner.

  6. I don’t understand the hype of playable Zelda when he is already the main character of every Zelda game.

No thanks maybe a spinoff but main game would be garbage.

    The door’s never been closed!

They just gotta step through it!

Even if it’s a gimmick sequence during the final boss!

WW Link and Tetra were almost a tag-team.

I feel like we’ll have playable Zelda only after Myamoto is no longer here to see it happen

I still think the best way to introduce this concept is a game where you play as Link and Zelda and the whole gimmick of the game is controlling both for puzzles and combat. I trust the Zelda team to make a game where that wouldn’t be a nightmare to control

The next one really should be Zelda and link together and you can switch between the two. Opens up a whole new world of puzzles.

Even better would be to have the option to play Co-op as well, like cats quest 2. (Obviously not that kind of gameplay, just the concept of being able to switch between two characters/co-op)

The future is uncertain, obviously, this is just standard PR.

Maybe they could make a spinoff zelda game like how peach is getting a spinoff (we did already habe super princess peach tho).

But that’s probably not exactly a priority for them.

Link has always been the hero of hyrule and zelda a supporting character. She’s clearly not weak and can hold her own so maybe they can explore having dual protagonists, but that would be a major departure from traditional Zelda. Although botw and totk are themselves major departures so who knows what they’ll do.

  13. I dont understand why people have such a hard on to play as Zelda? She is literally the worst part of both BOTW and TOTK(though the terrible voice acting definitely makes it worse)

Id rather play as Ganondorf before Zelda, at least hes interesting.

It’s interesting we are getting another Peach game but haven’t had one Zelda game

I swear, Zelda is the most mistreated major character of any active Nintendo franchise. Every main game involving her, it’s “Zelda is captured / in trouble and needs to be saved,” since the beginning of the series.
Even *Peach* now shows more agency than Zelda, and many (though not all of course) Mario games have moved beyond the “Save the Princess!” trope.

Zelda? Nope, captured all the time. Always useless. Sometimes worse than useless, and actually makes things *worse*. See: Ocarina of Time, a game that, while I loved it, Zelda was horribly abused within. Gave Ganon access to the Sacred Realm, and while she was briefly cool as a *boy*, as Sheik, the moment she revealed she was Zelda? Captured again.

And it’s doubly ironic, because the series is *named for her*. If there’s any series where the princess should be the hero, it’s The Legend of Zelda. But no, instead we get… Link. A character with basically no personality or character beyond ‘hero’, because he’s supposed to be a self-insert. Assuming you’re a boy anyway.

So I really, really hope future Zelda games move beyond “save the princess” trope, and hopefully even allow you to choose to play through the entire game as Zelda OR Link. Or, if that’s going too far, at least make Zelda a major, active character, and then let us play Linkle or something. Breath of the Wild was so much more fun for me with the Linkle and Zelda mods, so I’d love if that was just baseline.

No, link should stay as the MC. The “link saving zelda” is an important part of the franchises identity. I would prefer a spin off like hyrule warriors if they tried to to do this.

It should’ve happened in *this* release. I would’ve loved to explore ancient Hyrule as Zelda, and maybe switch between Zelda and Link like you can switch between characters in GTA V. Have them work together between eras to solve actual dungeons or puzzles in the game to advance the story in a logical way instead of just rehashing the same thing they did in BotW.

Huge missed opportunity. Instead we got the Depths, a bunch of empty sky islands, and… more shrines. Yay.
